What would I call it; taking a 45 minute class that consists mostly of weight lifting/training? I'm just wondering how to track it.

Circuit training maybe. I use a heart rate monitor for that stuff because the database is not accurate for these things. :flowerforyou:

Try "Circuit Training". Also, under the "Exercise" tab, you can click "database" and it lists all the different categories of exercise on MFP.

What exactly does your weight training class involve? Is strictly weights only, or is there some cardio work as well?

i need help with this aswell, i do a body pump class at the gym and it is 60mins repitition weights doing each body part. its a popular class worldwide but they dont have it on here, and when i typed in strength training and put in the amount of time it definitly was way too low a calorie burn for the workout:(
  • Yeah, its a mixture of weights and some cardio as well. Also, while it is surprising sometimes to see how low a calorie burn some workouts are, you have to remember that the healthier and lower your weight is, the less you're burning off and that much harder you have to work to see an impact. Anyways, thanks I'll look at circuit training, I've never heard the term before so I wasn't sure what it meant!

If you have an instructor or trainer-- see if you can ask them. I always shoot low-- because I don't want to over-eat on calories if I guesstimate too high. When I did my 35 minute workout with my trainer yesterday-- he helped me at estimating 200 calories. All weight training- but, doing it at a pretty quick pace. My cardio-- i depended on the machine to tell me. (ofcourse, that's easy if you are at a gym)-- Otherwise, have the MFP site give you the calories for cardio. I will say, I think the MFP site gives me just a few too many calories for my cardio. Good Luck.. Best thing is that you ARE working out!
