Seeking Advice: Breaking a Plateau

Looking for advice: I lost 60lbs a year and a half ago. I gained back 20, then lost 10. 7 months ago I ramped up the workouts big time, started eating even better and all I have done is gain tons of muscle. Though I am more fit than I have ever been, why can't I seem to lose these lingering 30lbs? I eat 1800-2000cal per day, but if I get hungry my body fails big time (fast, demanding metabolism), not just hungry. My blood sugar plummets and then I'm a waste case. I burn around 800-1000 calories per day. At the moment I am trying to eat more to see if I have been in a funky plateau for this long (is that possible??). I have been trying 4x harder to lose weight than I did with the first 60, can you say FRUSTRATED?! Lol. Thanks for any advice!

I was at a plateau for about 2 months or so,, then my friend said her doctor told her that if you hit a plateau to add strength training to your workout and it should melt right off! So i did and have lost 8 more pounds since then. Also try having dinner earlier around 4 or so.0

The key to breaking a plateau is small changes. Increasing or decreasing your calories by 200, changing up your workout routine (ie if you do primarily muscle work, try cardio for a week and vice versa), adding a small amount of weight to your routine, or running an extra couple of minutes.
A plateau is where you body has become used to your lifestyle. Too much change and it goes "WTF?".0 -
Well, with your calorie burning, you are only netting around 1000-1200 calories a day. I would try either eating more, or toning down the workout, to see if that changes things up for you. From personal experience, you can't sustain an extended calorie deficit of that level. Good luck!0

Sounds like sever blood sugar swings could be involved. Have you been evaluated for diabetes or hypoglycemia?0

I experienced some hypoglycemic episodes about 10 years ago when I lost a ton of weight too, good point. I had some tests done, no results and they passed, nothing since. Diabetes is prevalent in my family unfortunately. I have been pondering the chance.of a thyroid problem. Anyone familiar with that?0

eat cleaner, drink more water, workout harder0

Maybe your eating too much carbs and sugar at one sitting for you own body system, that might be the reason for the blood sugar swings, try cutting carbs down some days, that work for me.0
