Hi all,
My dietician recommended I do an indirect calorieometry testing.. Just curious if you've heard of it or done it? Evidently you fast and then breathe into this machine that tells you your exact BMR. It is supposed to be down to an exact science. It will tell if your metabolism is fast or slow and give you exactly how many calories you should be consuming based on your reading.. Unlike all the sites that have you plug in your height, weight, etc.. this is supposed to be based on your body readings.. Idk..LOl

Anyway, I'm getting it done on the 28th.. My insurance doesn't pay for it and the cost is 75.00..I didn't think it was that bad.. I will let you know how it goes. I've been stuck on weight loss and its been slow moving eventhough I cut calories and exercise a ton..

I just posted about this, looking for advice because I'm having it done tomorrow morning. I'll come back and tell you how it was!

I had mine this morning. It was a really informative meeting, as the doctor that performed the test was incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly. My score was a bit low, only 1480, as the average for my height and weight is 1780. It makes sense, the number of calories that I have adjusted with experience to fit my needs is what she got when she plugged 1480 into the formula.
I just had to sit there and breathe into this machine for a few minutes, but it's hard to not pay attention to your breathing, and sit very very still, and not talk or laugh or smile as your doctor is being a goof. I felt very...lord vadar-ish.
While the machine will give you a close score, it's still just a ball-park range, because if you breathe just a bit different than normal the number is changed, as it is reading the oxygen levels in your exhaling.
    Good luck on yours!

I have Kaiser insurance, and they offered it with the normal copay through their nutritional and sports fitness center. Ask your doctor about it. I've heard other places that offer it too, just a bit more expensive. Good luck!

So what did they recommended your daily calorie intake would be?
