I also use jack3d, but NOxplode is what I used previously. I like the jack3d more and it's a little more economical.

Pre workout you don't really need anything if your goal is loosing weight, post workout a protein shake or some chocolate milk is the best choice.

You don't really need bcaa before a workout unless you are training fasted to reduce muscle catabolism, if you have eaten before your workout you don't need it.

Just sharing my personal experience with ya...

I've used Jack3d, C4 Extreme and SuperPump MAX pre workout drinks.

I workout at night, so need something to kick my *kitten* quickly, then let me sleep approx. 2 hours after my workout

Jack3d, Grape - Taste was so/so - I received a steady amount of energy from this drink, I received a decent pump during the workout, but a couple hours after the workout and still left me with too much energy to quickly fall asleep.

C4 Extreme, Fruit Punch - Taste was good - I received a quick burst and steady burst of energy. The pump was minimal. I was able to sleep like a baby 2 hours after my workout.

SuperPump MAX, Grape - Taste was scrumptious, but doesn't mix very well. I received minimal energy from this drink. But the Pump was incredible and seems to last. I was able to sleep like a baby 2 hours after my workout.

My wife has used Jack3d and C4 Extreme. Due to taste, she likes the C4 much more.

    Cheers to you!

Yes your right this is in a fasted state at 6am in morn on treadmill at 4mph for 65mins. before i weight train in evening i have 45g oats with 30g of protein 1hr before then my prworkout drink half hour before, i just sip on 15g of bcaas and 50g of maltodextrin during weights 50g of whey protein as soon as ive finished then have another 15g bcaas with my main post meal bout half hour later.

I have an apple in the afternoon within 2 hours before spinning to make sure I don't have feel queasy on an empty stomach and give me the energy/carbs I need but I use my whey protein AFTER the workout as then the protein is best absorbed/utilized by your muscles.

Rule of thumb; carbs before, protein after.

But you could save some money and just have the bcaa before your fasted workout as your fueling your other workout with your protein and carb shake so don't really need the bcaa unless it's to help with doms

A small amount of carbs such as sweet potato is also good post workout to re fuel glycogen stores.

You seen to know your stuff:) Supplements arnt a problem with cost as i sell them, and i read alot of articles bout bcaa's and believe their very important in my lifestyle. I also take 7-10g with every meal tbh

Doesn't that make you have to pee like crazy?? Every time I've drank coffee in the morning before working out I've noticed I run to the bathroom 4 times or more within 45 minutes or something!
  • I've used a few.

USP Labs Jack3d - Amazing watermelon flavor. It is high on the stimulants so you will eventually have to cycle off. Definitely recommended.

BSN NO Xplode 2.0 - Fizzy like alka-seltzer and tastes so-so (fruit punch). Didn't do much for me.

MusclePharm Assault - Decent taste. You can taste the sucralose in it. Giant scoops to mix in.

Controlled Labs White Flood - Tastes AWFUL. So bad I couldn't get passed the first sip. Guessing its the beet root juice they use.

ON Amino Energy - My favorite so far. All the flavors taste great. Mixes well and is lower on caffeine than others.

All that said, your mileage will vary. If you're sensitive to caffeine, I'd suggest very small doses to test these out. I also don't take pre-workout on cardio or run days. Stimulants tend to raise the heart rate which I don't need. I do use them on weight days though. Also keep in mind that most of these are geared towards weight lifting. I mention that because getting a tingly sensation (paraesthesia if you care) isn't uncommon with these due to the beta-alanine. Not harmful. Just annoying.

In the end, one that works great for me may work terribly for you.

I'd bet $$ that everything you've read is either ad copy or studies that compare BCAA to inadequate overall protein consumption.

Newsflash: Protein contains bcaa (and the other aa as well). If you're consuming a good amount of protein (>1g/lb LBM), there is NO benefit to supplementing with BCAA (apart from the aforementioned fasted training example).

IFBB body builders cant be wrong my friend who can argue with their articles on bcaa's you should read a few they are espically important on a cutting cycle to help preserve muscle with zero kcals. a guy im friendly with came second in the overall mr britain 18st 7lbs at 4% and he said when cutting 10g bcaas with every meal is essential im not gona argue with him.
