Has MFP only just implemented the sugar tracking?
Did some new huge report come out on sugar?
For the first 5 months i was here sugar was barely mentioned! Now there's been almost 20 threads on it in the last week alone!

There is a sugar tracker now. I track my sugar out of curiosity, but I don't let it phase me too much, because fruit will put you over really fast. I actually pay attention to fat, fiber, protein and carbs.0

No and no.
I don't even ask anymore. I just go to sleep.0 -
It's a pattern I've seen here. Almost daily. Someone will post something about some controversial topic, which may or may not elicit a flame war, and 10 more threads get started on the same topic that day...seemingly unaware that the topic has been or is being discussed ad infinitum.0

Sugar is the new "muscle is heaver than fat".0

sugar tracking has always been there if you wanted to have it on your diary. For me it is important as i was recently told im pre diabetic0

Yeah, i figured it's always been there...
Just curious as to why NOW all of a sudden has the "zomg sugar!" threads starting multiplying faster than rabbits who have just discovered Viagra...0 -

I agree, it's very hard to find food that is sugar free. Like you stated fresh fruit can put your sugar intake over the top.0 -

I saw this today:
Try reducing your fruit to two servings a day and increase your lean meats and vegatables. Fruit options should be citrus, berries (all) and apples to avoid the high sugar ones like bananas. Stay away from white foods. You'll be fine. Some sweet tooth options to help is Skinny Cow candy bars. My wife and I will treat with one of those and a scoop of sugar free ice cream.
so avoid bananas but eat ice cream and candy bars0 -

I track mine as I am type 2. If you're not, I wouldn't think it too huge of a concern. Fortunately I've never had too many problems with my sugar. Keeping fairly active really helps me keep it down.0

I am not even going to lie, when I first started tracking again I was a little concerned; but my sugars come from the fruit I am eating. So I quickly decided that I was not going to pay much attention to that part of my daily report. I don't know about anyone else, but I am not about to give up my apples0

Im not sure about all the concerns lately. For me I track Sugar because I am diabetic but with that said I don't really pay attention to it as most of my sugars come from fruit and I usually stick to apples and berries with are low on the glycemic index. But I have it in my list to see where I am. But my monitor is the best measure for whats really going on inside my body. I added it for grins really.0

oops got impatient and posted twice doh!0

Personally I think processed sugar is soooooooo bad for you....
Today for example, well last night, I ate a bar of Kelloggs fiber plus before I went to bed, as I was talking with my youngest and we had a naughty moment!! Ok I had 2...
Then went to bed at about 9pm, I get up at 5.30am but this morning I was up at half 2. In bed for an hour looking at the stars, trying to get back to sleep............ BUT NO......... I always sleep well, always have...
This has happened twice now in just over a week, both times I had a bar before bed...
Soooooooooooooo for me, personally I am not having any carbs after 3pm!!
I dont drink tea or coffee have not in years, the only hot drink I have is from the mint or lemon balm from my back garden!! xx0 -

I have not looked into this research, but you should check out "Sugar: The Bitter Truth" on YouTube. Something to think about if nothing else. For me the main problem with eating sugary things is that it makes me want more sugary things. If I eat one brownie, I can pretty much just as easily eat the whole tray. If I eat a piece of fruit instead, then I'll stop at a reasonable portion size.0
-
No that was a good one0

And then see it completely debunked:

Yeah, that "Bitter Truth" documentary is completely false, pretty much garbage.0

Yeah, I've noticed this too. I think sometimes people aren't happy with some of the responses in a thread that go against whatever it is they believe so they think if they create a new thread, they might be able to make themselves feel better about what they choose to do. It often seems that people are very set in their choices and not at all open to logical debate at all. Can't count the amount of times I've been told to do some 'proper reading' in the form of popular books rather than my scientific articles...0 -
I read this, added sugar to my diary tracker, put my breakfast and daily milk allowance in (400 ml skimmed milk for breakfast and cups of tea) and it has me over my sugar allowance already  I feel all panicky and have a strong urge to write a thread about sugar...0
-
I watch it because in January I was told I was pre-diabetic, but 58lbs and clean eating for 9months has put me back into the normal (physically anyway, mental jury is still out I will still track to reconmcile it with my glucose test numbers, but if it's from fruits and veggies, it really is not a big deal in my opinion, but we are a society that needs something to worry about on a regular basis, so why not sugar?0
