Begin rant.

How the hell do you do this every month?? I've been cramping for 3 days and TOM finally showed up. After 3 years of not dealing with any of this BS from being on the depo, I'm ready to jump off a cliff.

Men need to experience this "gift" sometime and know what the hell we go through.

(I had to ***** about it somewhere and figured this was as good of place as any :) )

End rant.

It's not that bad. After a few years, you get used to it.

hah I never had cramps like this before I started the depo. It's like a shock. And I had surgery a couple weeks ago and can't use tampons again yet. It's going to be a long few days.

It's a fact of life and life does not wait for special snowflakes. After my first couple of rodeos I just accepted this fact.

I hate TOM. I get cramps so bad that I vomit and get diarrhea throughout that entire week (sorry if that's too TMI), so I totally know how you feel. Chamomile tea helps, as well as maximum strength Midol and warm compresses. My mom is a physician and says that since your body changes so much as you grow older, it's entirely possible to "grow out" of cramps (although not always likely).

I have a Dr appt on Monday and I'm going to see about getting back on the depo shot. This implanon (arm implant) has made me partially bipolar as well haha

Depo screws up your system really bad. Should even out after a couple of months.

I was on depo for 4 years and I loved it, but had to go off because 4 years is longer than recommended (it affects bone density). I started getting TOM earlier this year and my period now lasts 7 days, and my whole cycle is 22-24 days. That means it's TOM for a week, off for two weeks, then back on. I'm slowly going insane!

That said, there were side effects to depo that I didn't realize until I went off it. First, it makes you gain weight easier, which I didn't notice until I went off it and dropped 15 pounds without even trying. Secondly, it can lower your sex drive drastically (although that does make it the ULTIMATE birth control).

I'm so tempted to talk to my doctor about going back on, but I wasn't able to lose weight while I was on it no matter what I did. So I guess it's just a countdown until menopause for me!

I'm sure it's not the same for everyone, I just wanted to let you know my experience.

I want to share something with you, obviously you will do whatever you want but I wouldn't be ok if I didn't share. I am 33, had been on depo since I was 15. 2 years ago, I was going through my 5th miscarriage and was lucky enough to be referred to a women's specialist. After I told him my history, because I have no problems getting pregnant, but staying pregnant, well, that was a whole other issue. Once I told him about the Depo he was extremely upset. Not only was it the main reason for my infertility and miscarriages but it also increases the risk of breast cancer by 85%. He refuses to put anyone on it and I am thankful for meeting him. I am now 17 weeks pregnant with my 7th pregnancy, 3rd baby. I just wanted to let you know, so you could make the decision

Eh..You'll be fine. Invest in a hot water bottle or therma patches if your working, and lots of Aleeve. Like everyone said, give it time and it will even out.

i have really bad TOM and the only time i have ever been able to function during the first 3 days when i was on YAZ. TOM still came but the pain that went along with it was WAY more manageable! Sadly i lost my health insurance but thats the first thing i am getting back on once i get it back.

Try Junel instead. I was on Yaz and loved it and Junel is super close to Yaz and a lot more affordable too.

Exactly! I am always grateful for my period, even if it causes cramping and embarrassment ^^ I am not sexually active (not even kissing lol), but still have fears of pregnancy every month...
