MFP says I should only get 57g of protein/day. But I've heard you are supposed to multiply your weight by .37 to get your MINIMUM suggested amount in g's, that would make my daily allowance almost 94g (minimum). which one is right?

You will hear very conflicting suggestions for protein intakes. If I were you I would consume far more than MFP's suggested intake.0

I do 1 gram per lean body mass. I have better fat loss and muscle development when doing so.0 -
I have been told pretty much from when I started on here to view the protein goal as a minimum goal and going over is good.
Now I have my percentages set so that I should have 149g of protein and most days I go over 170g.0 -
MFP's number is really low. I think it's based on the RDA info which I've heard is pretty outdated. I've heard 1 gram for every pound of lean body mass.0

I agree MFP's number are low when it comes to protein. I try not let myself drop below 100 grams per day and usually I'm around 150. Yesterday was a good day and I got up to 197!!0

MFP uses the normal "recommended" servings which is normally considered the minimum, not necessarily the ideal. I shoot for 1 gram per pound of my goal weight (my lean mass), leave about 40 grams for carbs and push the rest to fat.0

I know this advice may not be popular, but I think others here should consider it. Bear in mind the advice is not for people who are trying to lose weight. Rather, it is advice for people who are trying to increase performance.
http://btc.montana.edu/olympics/default.htm This link is a site targeted towards training for competitors attending one of the Winter Olympics training centers located in Montana. This course is for nutritionists and trainers working at these centers, prepared by faculty at Montana State University.
From the link, click on > Sports Nutrition. There are 4 Units. In Unit 2, navigate to Protein Goals. You will find good reasonable information that may help you in your efforts to improve.
Please note at the bottom of the page is an Application Section. There are questions for the student (nutritionists). Click on the word "Answer" to see the answer to the question posed.
The second question describes the consequences of getting too much protein by following a 40/30/30 diet. Remember this is tailored for athletes.0
