C25K week 3

Week 3 Day 3 complete, with no problems, despite the fact that I pushed ahead much faster for the last minute or so, and that last minute was uphill! Still trepidatious about next week, even though I've done it once by accident. There's gonna be a wall sometime, it's just a question of when. I'll be the most surprised if that doesn't happen, believe me!
Blog post later, I need a shower!0 -
Good job Russell! :smokin:
Yep, keep it safe and go only as hard as you feel you can.0 -
I'm just amazed at how good this feels! It's not easy by any stretch of the imagination, and I huff and puff and sometimes chant "you can do this, you can do this" at the end of a run.... but it's doable! Week 3 finished. And today I finished 2.6 miles 4 minutes faster than a week ago. Don't scold me, I'm just continuing my cool down walk on some days. I guess my running is getting better! It's such an encouragement to read how you are all going out there and making this happen.0

I don't do the whole 5 min cool down but continue to walk fast and then cool down after it has finished. 5 min for a cool down is a loooong time, IMO.0

All 3 runs completed!!!
As some of you know I'm doing this in China, so I need to be careful. Especially along the river where I go for my runs as there have been quite a few cases of murders in that area (sounds lovely doesn't it!). I'm working about 50 hours a week, the only time I can go for a run is in the evening so my boyfriend has to come with me so I'm safe. It's great having a running partner but by the time we get home from work he gets settled on the sofa and puts up a massive fight every time saying he doesn't want to go and it ends up in a massive argument. So most of the time when we're running I'm so annoyed I can't enjoy it properly. And he's a fitness freak so he always runs a lot faster and complains how slow I am (he called my pace 'shockingly slow' - cheers for the encouragement!).
But all that aside, I'm really starting to notice an improvement in my fitness which is great.
Thank you to everyone posting on here. It's great motivation reading about your experiences!0 -

hmmm, whats that saying...."stuck between a rock and a hard place"!! You need him for security but you DON'T need his attitude. Hope it gets better for you.0

Week 3 day 3 complete and looking forward to week 4. I know my body is capable of doing more than I think, so I like the challenge. The 3rd day is definitely easier than the 1st day of each week!0

Not everyone can say they are doing the C25K in C H I N A.
I think that is amazing in itself.
Kudos to you for getting it in even after a long day of work and in the evenings AND in a dangerous area.
I am glad you have a running partner, reluctant as he is. It keeps you safe and that is what is important.
Let him grouch and groan - its the right thing to do to keep you safe.
Don't let him set your pace...
My 'running' is more of a joggy type shuffle.
My 10 yr old says what I am doing "isn't running" but it is more than he is doing...so HA! I told him if he could jog 3mins without stopping ...THEN he earned the right to complain or criticize but not until then. He goes along on our runs but he rides his bike. Needless to say, he stopped saying that and happily rides his bike.
Keep pushing forward.0 -
Week 3 - COMPLETE!!! YAY!!!
Got a bit of a later start this am on our Week 3 Day 3 run but it was gorgeous none the less.
We always go up the hill and out of our neighborhood for our 5 min warm up.
-We do our 3 min interval first b/c it works out to be a nice flat area.
Our walk takes us over the creek and up a small hill.
-Our 90 sec interval takes us up an incline into the backside of another subdivision.
Our walk takes us up a steeper hill and through an open alley of sorts.
-Our next 3 min run is along a nice straight stretch but for some reason it's a killer.
Our walk takes us through a business parking lot and then we start our run back home.
-We did the 90 sec interval and another walk.
*On the downhill stretch we did a 4 min run to see how long we could go.
The 5 min cool down actually doesn't get us home - its more like a 15min cool down and then we stretch our calves and legs out on the steps going up to the house.
All in all it is a good route and gets us up to 3.7 miles/per day when its all said and done.
I think about how many miles we are walking a week doing this route Mon, Wed, & Fri for the C25K.
Then add in the rest days that we usually walk this same route and it figures out to be close to 18.5 miles a week.
That is a lot considering I was doing on average a big fat 0 miles a week before this program. lol
I am a bit nervous about Week 4 but we will pull it off. I never thought I would be able to run the 3min. and I am doing closer to 4, so I will push myself to go farther. If I have to do Week 3 again it will disappoint me but won't be the end of the world.
I love reading about all your efforts during the week and how you all are doing.
Keep up the great work and keep pushing forward.

was excited to see a thread on C25K (just joined this site today). Previously I had gotten to week 4 and just couldn't manage to get through it. 5 min run was too much for me. I repeated the entire week 4 twice and not one time could I make it to 5 min run. I want to try it again though...thinking about doing it from the beginning since I haven't done much at all since I pooped out with it 2 months ago. Good luck to everyone in week 4!0

Finished day 3 of week 3. Had a teeny tiny breakthough... on my 3 minute run, for aobut a good minute, I was not thinking about the run at all. I have a job interview on Tuesday so I was going over my shpeel in my head and totally forgot that I was even running. It was awesome!!! Plus, I ran about 30 extra seconds at the end, just to see if I could do it, and I could! =0)
Great job everyone, see you all in week 4!!! =0)0 -
Question... and this is probably just fear talking... next week, week 4, we run a total of 16 minutes. That is almost double what we ran this week (9 minutes). I'm scared! Why the big jump???0
