I am really weak and would like to start working out more and build strength. I know with the physical test you need to be STRONG!!!! I'd like to know what exercises would help pass that test and help in my career

Im not a firefighter or anything of the sort nor am i going into that profession. But google HIIT. That will most definitely build your muscle!

    http://www.notyouraveragefitnesstips.com/best-workout-routines/best-cardio-for-weight-loss-hiit-workout-routine

    http://www.intervaltraining.net/hiit.html

These might help some. But def do some research on HIIT training!

There are some really good programs out there to help you succeed. But- I can tell you that programs such as cross fit, that also work on agility, will be your best bet. Some depts have you crawl through a dark maze and find your way out, while going up and over objects...a lot is about strength, but most is about endurance.

Cross fit is great because you are doing exercises and strength training exercises that are out of the box. I have never haerd of a dept that tests how much you can bench or squat. They want to know you can drag a human 100 feet or pull hose that far, lift and pull objects. At any rate, look into cross fit type exercises....that is your best bet!

Also, if you cannot afford cross fit- check out P90X...that will help too.
