This is so unfair! I have not been cheating at all! I workout atleast twice a day and ever day I am below my calories. I have not measured my self for a week so i decided tonight would be good. I am an INCH BIGGER every where exept my neck! How does this work out? Can someone explain it to me?
A little more information, I have been on MFP for a week and a half but I have been working out and watching what I eat for about a month now. I have lost four pounds but for some reason I am getting bigger! This is so not worth it!

I had problems with my measurements too
it really helps to do some research on the web and find a very clear method
it also helped me to write it down, not just the measurements but where the tape was
you would be surprised how up or down a small amount really screws with the differences
good luck0 -
Hi,
I'm sorry to learn that you're upset but what type of exercise are you doing? Your are probably gaining muscle and thats why you are an inch bigger everywhere except you neck and havent been losing as much. Going below your calories can sometimes backfire and maybe you should only workout once a day, sometimes working out more than once a day doesn't give your muscles enough time to recuperate.
Hang in there, try to make some changes, ket your muscles and body rest and it will work in your favor, I am not saying you should stop working out just instead of two intense workouts a day just do one and remember not to go too under your recommended calorie intake.
Don't lose faith you will get there sometimes we just hit rough patches on our weight loss journey but you will succeed. I know you can!0 -
whoa whoa whoa....
ok.. first off.... 4lbs in 1 week is NOTHING to be ashamed of. That is a great accomplishment! Congratulations!
Second, measure yourself every 2 or 3 weeks or so and if you have access to a gym, ask one of the personal trainers there to measure you. They will do it for free and know how to measure each spot so its done correctly each time. It really does make a difference having someone else wrap that tape!
Stick with it girlie....it IS worth it and dont worry about it if you are actually in fact bigger because if you are eating right and working out, then you KNOW its not fat!! There is NO WAY it can be!!0 -
It takes time! And those measurements could be anything! Have you been going to the bathroom as much recently? Or drinking more water?0

Seriously,
a week and a half is WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY to short of a time period to be frustrated with anything about weight loss. You gotta give your body time to adjust.
Especially with measurements, give yourself a month at least. 4 lbs is HUGE weight loss in 10 days, but you're not going to see measurement changes every week, you have to remember, a lot of our losses come on the inside as well. Give it time.
Hell it took me 14 months to lose 53 lbs. but I did it, and now I'm very healthy and all the lines and muscles are in the right places at the right sizes for me. It will happen for you, just cut yourself some slack and give it a little time to work.0 -
4lbs in one MONTH is great!!!
1lb a WEEK is great.
You are doing everything right! If you find that your "check-ins" aren't showing the results ... don't check in so frequently!
BE PATIENT!
Don't give up. You're only getting started ... and i PROMISE you ... at the end of NEXT month, you will feel differently.
BE SURE TO EAT YOUR CALORIES!!!!!!!!! It sounds like you are priding yourself in staying under. That little warning you get about starvation is ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!! I'm not saying you have to eat 1500 if your working out twice a day .... but honestly ... you need to get at least 1200. How many are you eating??
For me .. i work out once a day ... I always eat around 1200 (even if I've earned more). IN the beginning i didn't do this ... but what a difference in your metabolism when you do.
TRUST the site. Talk to the PT at the gym, or your doctor. Everyone will tell you the same thing ...

4lbs in a month is a great accomplishment!
I know this can be a frustrating process but please be patient! :flowerforyou: A week and a half is too soon to expect significant results and to be honest if you lose the weight slowly and steadily you are more likely to keep it off. Plus looking at your profile you don't have a ton to lose, so it will take some time.
To respond to your specific concerns about getting bigger it could be any number of things including water retention.
Just remember that if you eat healthy (and eat enough, I should add), and keep active, you WILL lose the weight. There are many people here who are great examples of that. Also, I just want to point out that in the pursuit of losing pounds and inches many of us forget the other great benefits like more energy, less stress, a boosted imune system, etc. And these are benefits that you can enjoy almost immediately even before you see your hard work reflected on the scale or tape measure.
Keep your chin up. You CAN do this!0 -
I am right there wth you!! I have lost 25 pounds and yet this month when I did my measurements..THEY ALL WENT UP!!! I was so discouraged!! I have lost 25 pounds and yet all my measurements went up, how is that even possible!?? I can't even tell I've lost 25 pounds yet, so I expected my measurements to show it at least!!0

Honestly, diet and exercise are the only ways to lose weight. They are built-in by Mother Nature, herself...tried and true for eons.
You're doing it right, you're just not giving it enough time.0 -
Check how much sugar you consumed in the day or so before you measured yourself - it tends to make you bloated.0

It's hard to measure yourself.:grumble:0
