Yep, lots of threads. I haven't done it and wouldn't. I eat pretty low carb, myself, but there's no way I'd eat all protein for any length of time. Your body needs fat much more than it needs carbs. The medical community isn't fond of this kind of diet and there was a British medical group that named it one of the worst diets of the year. The biggest negative I've heard is that it's really hard to stay on because of the monotony of the foods you're allowed to eat.

well, I bought the book--hoping as always for an EASY FIX for being overweight and unhealthy. Found it totally undoable. Save yourself the money.

I've done it and I found it quite good. Once you're past the initial Atack stage it's actually not that restrictive and it felt quite heathy. The main benefit I found is that it forces you to cook things from scratch, you have to get creative with the ingredients you have to work with but once you get into it I found I was eating quite a varied diet - lots of veg and low fat dairy along with the protein most days. I was full of energy, my skin was glowing and, most importantly, the weight really did fall off.

I think a lot of people look at it as a quick fix faddy diet but it really isn't - it's definitely something you have to look at as a long term diet option. I lost a stone on it but then decided to go through the "Stabilisation Phase" and go back to calorie conting at the moment simply because I'm having to travel a lot with work which doesn't allow me to put in the prep that is required - you really can't just grab lunch on the go with the dukan and it's very all or nothing so if you're not in a position to really put in the effort then I'd steer well clear - but if you're someone who likes a strict diet with very clear rules to follow then I'd definitely recommend it
