Bacon/I'm probably kind of an idiot.

I want bacon. Like.. really bad.

I kind of figure I'll just work out extra so I can have some over the weekend with a brunch or something. Usually I just buy turkey bacon and that's enough to satisfy the craving but I don't think that's going to do it this time. Obviously I kind of want to watch the fat where I can, so I'm wondering what the best variety of bacon would be to buy. Any input would be fabulous. =)

I get center cut bacon, Farmland and Oscar Mayer both have one, and it is 70 calories for 3 pan fried slices. Everything in moderation :)

Two slices of regular, cured, smoked pork bacon have about 70 calories! That shouldn't be hard to fit into your daily food plan!

Center cut bacon has even fewer calories. Personally, I just plan for bacon and usually go for two slices of thick cut bacon (140 calories) Yum!

Ditto on the center cut. there is NOTHING WRONG with Bacon, or chocolate, or ice cream, or candy... IN MODERATION. Just don't eat the whole damn package! :)

I eat it occasionally but buy it from local farms with pasture raised animals and nitrates.

I don't know where you're located, but Hormel offers a nitrate/preservative free option which tastes waaaaaaay better than the standard stuff.

Dear lord I love bacon. I didn't realize that it's not very high in calories... I was craving a blt and ended up with the center cut bacon - a blt is actually a pretty decent choice as long as you don't go crazy with the mayo and choose a decent bread!

I get the oscar meyer center cut thick bacon. 2 slices is like 90 calories and there's like 300 mg of sodium in it. I make breakfast sandwiches with it several times a week and it's actually better for us than turkey bacon.

    Turkey bacon is blasphemy.

Eat the real thing, eat lots of it, and track it.

Bacon really isn't as bad as some people think. Calories? About 46 in a medium piece. Fat? about 3.5 (yeah, that's higher, but if you don't eat it every day? it's not that bad) Sodium? 196 mg.

A trick that I use is to BAKE it in the oven, and really drain the fat..............pat it with paper towels after cooking, and that will reduce the amount of fat you eat.

    and here..........

To burn off the number of calories in a slice of bacon you would have to do:

    •6 minutes of jogging
    •10 minutes of walking
•14 minutes of general house cleaning

There is nothing wrong with eating bacon................

Bacon, especially if you buy nitrate free bacon - is way less processed than turkey bacon which is made up of all different turkey parts............

And fat is not the enemy...............Fat is your FRIEND! :flowerforyou:

If you're gonna be a monkey, be a mother****ing gorilla. Don't get some namby-pamby, half-assed 70-calorie flavorless treebark tofurkey bacon. Go and get the extra-thick, sodium-dripping maple-syrup covered slab of fat and grease, illest most lumberjack-style bacon you can find. The 250 calories per slice variety. Eat that ****. Savor that ****. Make it count.

Then bust your *kitten* in the gym until you pass out. Bacon calories go b-bye.

So can I get my bacon wrapped in turkey then? maybe with a side of peanut butter for dipping?

If you bake it on a raised rack on your cookie sheet, the grease drains off nicely. Then just pat the top with a paper towel. Make sure you spray your baking rack with LOTS of pam or similar cooking spray, or you'll be eating bacon bits instead....

The Swanson: Bacon-wrapped Turkey Leg (the only time the words "turkey" and "bacon" should be used together)
