yes and yes :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0

YOu can count it as water, but you also need to account for the calories too. Usually about 10 calories for 20oz.0

Me too.0 -
I drink them everyday. It has helped me drink less soda.0

I'm very sorry to disagree but Crystal Lite doesn't count as water. Neither does green tea which is extremely healthy for you. It is a liquid and good for keeping yourself hydrated, but it doesn't count as water as far as your kidney or other body parts that need the water. The 8-8oz you need daily is + the other stuff you drink.....This is from a doctor, because I once thought the same thing. I at one time had to email everything I drank and ate to my doctor daily.
That is the only reason I know that and I'm very sorry if I hurt or made you angry. Also if you choose to disagree with me that's all good, because it's everyones right.0 -
My doctor told me crystal light does count as water...it also counts as water in WW as well.0

My doctor told me it did count as water...no calories, no caffeine, no bubbles...water. Doctors are human too and they also differ in opinions too.0 -

Sugar free Kool Aide counts too?0

These things all have water in them, and as far as hydration goes, that is all you need. BUT getting into the habit of drinking water- plain old water- will save you not only calories but money as well. Crystal light is basically a chemical additive that flavours your water, now if you're using it as a stepping stone to get you from say soda to plain water, that's great, but I gotta say, if you're on a quest for health, downing crystal light INSTEAD of water isn't the greatest idea. I'm all for a treat once in awhile, but try for more plain water than other.0

I'm glad there was so many thoughts and replies to the Crystal Lite. That's what is good, to get alot of in put. Thanks...Hope your week ends were good ones!!!!0

I agree with you on the chemical additive. A better flavoring would be a squeeze of lemon, lime or orange.
I know alot of people don't like plain water. For me that is my drink of choice. It has been for so long I can't imagine not drinking it.0 -

Thinking you should make sure your doc has a "real" degree, it counts as water.0 -

Sorry, but your doc might need to do some more reading. The only items that don't count as water intake are caffienated items like coffee and tea, mainly because they are natural dieuretics and you will pass more than you will absorb. Oh and alcohol doesn't count. There has been a lot of studies done recently that also include your fruits and veggies.
Basically, if your pee is the color of a pumpkin you need to drink more, if it is clear you are drinking too much but if it is between lemonade and clear you are doing just fine. And your kidneys, liver and other parts will recognize any water based fluid as water.

Just wanted to add that your water intake recommendations by your doctor can vary depending on health status, pregnancy, diabetes etc. Mayo clinic flat states there is no magic formula that will work for every individual. I prefer plain water to crystal light just because I can't stand artificial sweetners but if it keeps you from drinking soda and leans you toward a healthier choice than by all means...go for it!0

There are lots of opinions out there. For me personally i used it as a stepping stone to get off of soda. I could not stand to drink just plain water so i used crystal light and slowly weened myself off onto water. Now i only have 1 glass of crystal light a day and that is with my dinner. All the rest is usually water or milk.
It was great for me to use while trying to get off the soda. Try to replace one glass with ice cold water for awhile and then slowly proceed until you are drinking mostly water. That is what worked for me and i truly hated drinking just plain water. Everyone is different and you need to find what works best for you.0 -
:drinker: I'm very sorry that some of you got so upset over my opinion. I believe I said to everyone that everyone had a right to their owm opinion and I truly believe that....Everyone believes what they want to...
This part is all good. The world would be truly boring if we all thought alike.
However ladies I did not throw stones at you or your doctors. Yes, I agree that doctors are people and make mistakes, and also disagree.0 -
I agree with MaryJBlack0

Does anyone drink them on a daily basis? Can you count it as water intake?
there are mixed answers to this question some people don't count anything but water as their intake others count any and everything they drink
My coworker (fitness buff in competitions and everything) always tells me no I can't count anything as my water except water and that I have to drink just water to count toward my water intake- So do what you like and what works for you.0 -

This is fun....Mrsyac2 give your co worker a big ("YES") for me....thank you Mrsyac2 and mommaof2boys.
Our kidney's will rejoice...LMBO0 -
I absolutely love crystal light. I believe you can count it as water consumption because the majority of the drink is water. Don't forget to count the calories for the crystal light pack.0

I have to have something to flavor my water, so I do drink a lot of Crystal light or water w/sweet-n-low. Like I said before, plain water makes me gag, and it's not just at my house it's where ever I go. So I do count it, but to each his/her own. :flowerforyou:0
-
i know a bunch of people who count it, it's really hard for me to drink plain water, so i count it. i don't care if it's right or wrong because i know i'm trying my best. i usually still drink 2 or 3 glasses of plain water a day though so i feel better about it haha.:bigsmile:0

I don't even understand the whole confusion on this one....You take an 8ounce GLASS OF WATER, add a little flavour, and all of a sudden it becomes...what??? WATER!! it's still an 8 ounce glass of water that just happens to taste a hell of alot better! :laugh:0

Check out Ted Broer, and Dr Don Colbert....neither are my Doctors. They're both known world wide.
I love and drink Walmart brand of C/L. I drink chemicals too, and it does taste better I have to give you that. However, I also drink plain healthy water.
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_drinking_crystal_light_count_the_same_for_your_daily_water_intake
(This is the Q & A on the web page.)
Q: Does drinking crystal light count the same for your daily water intake?
A: It's the same amount of water and isn't a diuretic, so I imagine Crystal Light would be the same as drinking water. However, you're taking in a lot of extra chemicals with Crystal Light. They're not purported to be dangerous, but they are chemicals.0
