Lots of people saying reading, what sort of things do people like to read? Genres? Favourite authors?

I like crime or historical novels. Favorite authors include Ken Follet, J-C Grangé (French author who writes creepy-weird stuff), JK Rowlings, Maxime Chattam... I'm currently reading Stieg Larsson's The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest.

I've tried lots of different things, but the ones I've stuck with are reading and knitting (SabrinaJL on Ravelry). I started taking spinning (the yarn kind), right before I started trying to lose weight. I told myself when I hit 50 lbs lost, I'd buy myself a spinning wheel. Now that I've reached that goal, I'm not sure I want another hobby that keeps me sitting on my butt.

Autobiographies of people I admire. I like Fiction but i also like books I can learn something from, or at least broaden my horizons. Dawkins has been a big influence on me.

Just finished reading East of Eden by Steinbeck, if you haven't read it (you probably have) do! Catch 22 by Heller, and if you never read anything else read Nelson Mandelas Autobiography.

    Working out
Watching and reading about people making absolute fools of themselves daily in the name of "I'm right and you're not!"

And, how it is that with all of the addicts I've seen on this thread, no one has said MFP is their hobby??? Are we deluding ourselves?

Oh, yeah, I forgot one: deluding myself.

Also, rationalizing. I'm a gifted rationalizer. My dream is to start a rationalization hotline where people call me and tell me a situation and I rationalize their laziness, paranoia, selfishness, etc. for them. then they feel better and they pay me for it. :-) For example: Caller: "Help! I just ate a pound of chocolate and I feel guilty and gross!" Me: "You must have needed the zinc."
