You are right that men typically lose weight faster. But I can't imagine being jealous of anyone who eats and eats and eats mostly junk food, no matter how much they weigh or lose.0 -
I think eating junk would just make me feel sick... although it may not show on the scale, you're probably much more healthy than he is. That's what matters.0

Mine is the same way!! lol! all he has to do is cut out soda and immediately he just starts shedding the weight. he recently started P90X and I'm just waiting for it... lol!! I'm happy for him, but also jealous at the same time!!0 -
I TOTALLY agree. Sometimes when my husband starts dieting at the same time I do, it actually makes me give up and quit. I exercise 5 times a week and he doesn't at all. He of course can eat more cals per day then I can and the weight just falls off. We actually almost get into fights over it I get so jealous. I love him lots and lots but AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
LOL Thanks for sharing. I know I am not alone0 -
welcome to womanhood. its often that way. hence the commercial cartoon that joked about it. i ate the same stuff, smaller portions as my hubby, he stays thin, i'll gain. i think women put on more water than men for one, i think they burn higher for two. so we just gotta keep on keepin on. and try to smile through it.0

I hear you. My husband eats crap every day. He thinks he's being healthy if he's had a vegetarian pizza  He does no exercise but does have a manual job. He breaks all the rules. Only eating once a day, a huge meal of rubbish, at about 9.30pm and he's NEVER had a weight problem!!!! Grrrr0
-
Eh....it all works out in the end. We get "multiple" advantages over men sometimes.
Just keepin' things in perspective.0 -
Don't be jealous he might have dropped weight but that doesn't mean he is healthy. Skinny people can have major health problems from eating nothing but junk.0

This is very anecdotal. I know a lot of women that eat whatever they want and stay thin and hot. And I know a lot of guys that look at food and stay fat.
Men have larger muscular builds yes. Therefore they can workout in the gym and gain muscle faster than women. This is undoubtedly true.
However, men who go to one exercise session a week and eat trash and stay thin have their genetics to thank, not Mr. Winky. I hate these guys too I know a few of them. They talk about how much work they do in the gym and I watch them do 15 - 30 minutes a week of minor weight lifting but stay looking ripped. It's entirely genetic.
I have to work hard to maintain my weight. If I slack off at all i pack on weight quickly.
So I think it's more a genetic thing as opposed to a man/woman thing.0 -
How about the husband that eats whatever he wants, whenever he wants but he NEVER gains a pound - not one single pound in 13 years. Yea - that would be my husband0

my fiance did all you can at sushi ( 100 pieces alone) and 2 pieces of pie... no exercise and lost 1.5lbs the next day...
like WTF??!! lol... being a women sucks sometimes! lol0 -
Make sure you do weigh yourself the same way you did previously, and double check the measurement to ensure you get the same consistant readings.
every day I fluctuate between 3 to 5 pounds from morning to bedtime. the best and most accurate readings would be your dry weight. First thing in the mornig before breakfast and any fluids. I also call it my true weight.0 -
well, at least you don't have to walk around all day with a big ole thingy flapping between your legs! I'd take my girly slow weight-loss over that any day!!0
-
Aye! This reminds me of a commercial from way back when, a woman is on the couch with her guy and their pup is by the couch, and they are all overweight. She and the guy are eating salads she finishes and looks the same, her guy finishes and instantly looks thin, then the dog drinks water out his bowl and instantly looks thin, and shes looking at them like..what the..?! lol
It really isnt fair, but seems like that is how it is. A friend of mine, who didnt even need to lose weight really, just wanted to lose his tum now that hes heading into his 40's, and hes dang near disappeared altogether. For sue though, keep at it and making good food and fitness choices, because in the long run, not only will it pay off in how you look, but how you feel on the inside too!0 -
Yeah, my husband is a pole - 6ft and 125lbs. He does tend to eat a lot of "junk food" and drinks soda. But he's not entirely unhealthy with his eating. He doesn't exercise though! lol. I do tend to worry about him and his health though. Cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc. is not something I want him to have to worry about, or for me to worry about honestly! I've been trying to get him to make healthier choices, and he does sometimes. It's a slow process, but that's good enough for me.0

My DH used to be the same way... until he turned 40... I hate to say it, but sometimes revenge is sweet :devil:0
-
Just be glad you're not my moms height. She is only 4'10". Her calories have to be soooo low. Plus she is married to my dad who is almost 6'1" and he can eat way more than her lol0
-
You're not comparing two of the same things. Men have different caloric needs each day than women.
I would never be jealous of my hubby. He's 6' tall (I'm 5'6"), he eats a huge breakfast and lunch in his work cafeteria, and drinks beer pretty much every day. I'm not comparing a human like me...so there's no need to be jealous. If you showed me a 5'6" 34 year old female that ate tons of food and never worked out I would say "well good for her, but my body is healthier on the inside and I'm trying to prevent cancer, diabetes, and live a longer happier life. I win"0 -
I don't get envious of men because I understand they're made different than women, but I definitely understand your frustration when comparing it with yourself. I see so many men here and on bodybuilding.com forums who lost like 50 pounds in 2 months (hyperbole but I'm not too far off!) and I'm like "why can't that be me!" Women definitely tend to lose weight at a slower rate than men from what I see. But what can ya do?! I like being a woman, so I'll take the slower weight loss.0

Like the dude a few posts up said: it's not that way for all men. I've been working really freakin hard and agonizing over what I eat and constantly adjusting how much of what. I started seriously in July and I've lost almost 30 pounds. I've cheated maybe 4 or 5 times since July and have missed maybe 6 or 7 days of working out (getting up at 4:30AM since September). It hasn't been easy but I do feel a lot better.0
-
It stinks, but all honesty men don't always have as easy as you think. They have there problems too!0
