Exercise while sick?

Do you exercise while you are sick? I have been pretty sick for almost 2 weeks now. I had strep throat and bronchitis. I still have the bronchitis and have horrible spells of coughing. I feel like such a slug from sitting around resting and trying to get better. I have not worked out at all. I was wondering if it was good to work out while still coughing so badly?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I would only workout while sick, under the following circumstances:
1) You feel up to it and aren't forcing a workout due to guilt.
and
2) You either work out at home, or you are not contagious.
And I would only do a low volume or low intensity workout.
Courtesy to other gym goers is something that everyone should abide by, and this includes not knowingly bringing anything contagious to the gym with you.0 -
I have also been sick and not going to the gym for the past week and a half. I've been working though, and staying within my calories, so just looking forward to feeling better and hitting it again.0

I don't exercise while I'm sick as I've been told by my running coaches that it's counter productive especially if it's something like a chest infection. I can only go by their advice as I would hope they know what they are talking about but apparently training while sick can dramatically extend your recovery time. I do feel for you though, I sprained my ankle a few weeks ago (a drunken accident) and I couldn't run for 4 weeks I was gutted and felt really out of shape by the time I went back. Hang in there0

Thanks everyone, I am no longer contagious as I have been on antibiotics and everything. I just cannot shake this cough. I am also VERY tired and drained. I feel like I have no energy at all. I will probably rest a few more days and then try to work out.0

I have been sick since Saturday and missed my normal Saturday workout, Sunday was a day off, then I missed a hard Monday and my normal Tuesday workout. I did ride the recumbent bike at home for 25 minutes last night and did some stretching just to stay loose. I had a boot camp workout this morning and went to that even though I still felt bad, the sweat and activity seemed to loosen my congestion and I felt okay overall even though my energy level was pretty low in comparison to normal.0
