This is continued from previous Walking Challenges, but its nice when each month has its own thread.

*** Anyone can join in at any time, the more the merrier, lets keep each other motivated****

Walking seems like the easiest way to start getting exercise, and even if you can't track distance (or don't want to), tracking time is good too...go for a 10 min walk after dinner, or up it to 30 minutes, you'll be amazed at the end of the month how much more exercise your getting in. :)

Check in everyday with how far you walked or how long, this is just to motivate us to get in at least some exercise everyday, and keep an eye on each other.

Make a ticker and keep it in your signature to remind you of your goal, and show everyone how well your doing. Go to this website.

http://www.tickerfactory.com/ezticker/ticker_designer.php?type=8

Pick out your ticker pictures, set your miles or minutes, and your goal. Then copy all of the bbCode into your signature. :) It will look like this (but in your ticker...like mine) You use the url (from the bbCode) to update your ticker everyday (you can find this in your signature after you post the code there), just remember your pin.

I want to try to keep this mostly to walking or walking type exercising. treadmills and ellipticals are A-OK.

Hope to see some more faces in this challenge, we'll start tracking September 1st!

Do you need help making a ticker? Look at this link for step by step directions.

I just wanted to post these links again for the new comers :) Each one of these links is a mile walk. (or 12 min). With a total of 5 miles.

So if you aren't able to make it outside, (Because its summer and its HOT or don't have much time...12 minutes isn't asking a lot lol) then check them out to get in a quick walk.

  • I'm in again! Don't think I'm going to use the ticker this time. Just going to keep up with it here. My goal this month is to walk for 480 minutes or 8 hours.

I would like to participate in this too. It was a gorgeous day out today and I got 30 minutes of walking in. Wish all the fall days would be like this but one of these days the snow will fly..

Novembre goal: 500 mins or 20mins x 5 days per week

    Total: 30 minutes

One question - what about all the walking we do at work. Sometimes I know we stand around but alot of times I am on the go my whole shift (which is normally 9-10hrs).

The challenge is very relaxed. Count whatever you feel good about. The main purpose of this challenge is to get us up and moving.

I have had days where I am run off my feet and then there's the days that I am more stationary. Depends on the day. On the more fruitful days I am also doing stock, lifting that and moving that so I feel at times work is a workout! lol:laugh:

New month, another beginning, re-newed motivation. Count me in. Didn't go so well last month with keeping up the logging. I exercised and walked heaps but unfortunaely the counting of calories was not so good. I finished October with a 27km (17 miles) charity walk. Took me 6 1/2 hours to complete. Very challenging but beautiful walk. Steep hills but I went over 7 bridges of Sydneys beautiful harbour. I tried to do this walk last year but couldn't complete it. YAY this year I did and even though still sore, so happy with my improvement in body and health. So here's to walking.:drinker:

Count me in! I walk 60-90 mins most days with my dog, but would like to challenge myself and walk 90 mins every day this month. Did only 75 mins yesterday so I'd better up my game!

90 mins a day that would be awesome.
I have had a quick change in plans in my life and had to come to the city to stay with my daughter so instead of getting a taxi to the station I walked. 33 mins.

  • Hey everyone ~

This will be my first time participating in your challenge ... and I'm definitely game!

I'm in for 1,350 minutes (45 mins a day, 7 days week) as I'm trying to finally cement the workout habit into my day ... not so much luck with it in the past, working to make it stick like glue this time! :)

    Squeaky

P.S. Would love a few new friends to share experiences with, feel free to add me! :)

Done for the day. Managed to walk a bit longer today to cover for yesterday's short walk. I'm at 175/2700 (minutes), almost on track.

    How's everyone else doing?
  • Just realized that I forgot to record my walk yesterday. I'm currently at 20/480.

this sounds like more for me, I was trying to do 100 miles for november. I'm finding out that I'm getting burned out & my muscles are really sore. I think I will try to shoot for 500 mins & see how I do.

I'm not planning to set myself a weekly or daily target (don't need anything else to beat myself up about!) but today I have walked for 70 minutes already and I'm not finished yet!

Did another 90 mins today and found some new paths. My dog loved it, but I came back with soaking wet trainers. I think I need to be less adventurous or get my waterproof boots out! I'm at 265/2700.

Did anyone else manage to squeeze a walk in?

Only 15 minutes today, but better than nothing! Aiming to walk to work tomorrow if it's dry enough.

Walked instead of taking bus in city this morning 27mins, And another 5 to 10 mins of frantic walking this evening when bus didn't come and I was late for work. Was walking there as fast as i could when i finally got a taxi.

So now up to 50mins of walking this month. Haven't worked out what my goal should be as I am also doing Jillian Michaels 30DS.

    355/2700.

I'm doing 30DS as well (5 times a week, weekends off), but hesitant to move to L2 as I've heard it's sooo much harder. :grumble:
  • We live in the midwest and it is starting to be not so nice outside. :( But I did spend 30 mins on the treadmill this morning and managed to squeak out a meager 2.2 miles. Better than nothing though. ;-)

I spend time on the treadmill in the morning before work almost every day. As much time as I can get in, I do. Usually it is about 30 mins.

So add me to the challenge. I am not certain what the "goal" will be for the month but I will figure out something. LOL
