I was talking to a friend about my desired goal for weight loss (at this point im aiming for 60lbs gone) and she was telling me of her cousin who weight a bit more than me who cleaned up her diet, started exercising and she lost 70lbs in 3 months. I told her it probably wasnt just 3 months but she swears it is. I asked if her cousin ateat all during this period lol, and she said yes.
I didnt think it would be possible to do this?!

Possible if you are very obese, but is it healthy? Nope0

I lost 25lbs in 6 weeks.... the 3 months following I've lost 3lbs lol doing close to the same thing0

it is all to do with your starting weight. the more you have the lose the more you will drop at the beginning. when you reach about 30lb left to lose it gets harder.
Also if her diet was mainly junk food and crap it only takes cutting the bad stuff out to see an improvement. but remember the faster you lose the more likely you will put it all back on again unless you work very hard to maintain.

Lets do the math on this one, to give an idea of how unrealistic this is.
To lose 70 lbs in 3 months that means in 90 days you lost 70 lbs.
Thats .77 lbs a day. Meaning she burned more than 2722 calories a day for three months straight.
Thats 245000 calories burned in the span of 90 days.
If she was eating roughly 1400 calories a day. That means she had to burn at least 4122 calories a day to keep up with that pound a day weight loss. But lets just say she burns those 1400 calories based on everything else she does for the day (work, walking around, eating etc)
One hour of circuit training (an average work out) burns about 500 calories including breaks etc that tend to happen.
This would mean on top of a regular activity level.. she would have to work out 5.4 hours a day.. every day.. for 3 months.
Unless her friend was on the biggest loser I HIGHLY doubt it.

To lose 70 lbs in 3 months that means in 60 days you lost 70 lbs.
Thats 1.16 lbs a day. Meaning she burned more than 3500 calories a day for three months straight.
Thats 245000 calories burned in the span of 60 days.
Every hour of the day should have had to burn 145 calories.
If she was eating roughly 1400 calories a day. That means she had to burn at least 4900 calories a day to keep up with that pound a day weight loss. But lets just say she burns those 1400 calories based on everything else she does for the day (work, walking around, eating etc)
One hour of circuit training (an average work out) burns about 500 calories (Im being generous)
This would mean on top of a regular activity level.. she would have to work out 7 hours a day.. every day.. for 3 months.
Unless her friend was on the biggest loser I HIGHLY doubt it.
3 months is about 90ish days0 -
Could someone lose a good deal of FAT in 3 mobths time? Maybe the scale doesnt move that much but muscle increases and fat is noticebly less? Maybe thats what she meant.0

This person lost 70lbs. in 12 weeks which calculates to losing 5.8lbs. per week. Totally do-able (safely) if you're morbidly obese.0

Huge number to lose in 3 months...BUT, if she was eating lots of junk, processed foods before, then ate totally clean for those 3 months...could be possible. I would think though, she may not have been eating her required caloric intake. I'm going for 65 lbs, and my goal date is mid July. Have given myself 9 months since starting!0

If this person was several hundred pounds and still has a lot to lose, I guess that's possible. It would still be pretty hard. (And if you add in how word-of-mouth tends to change things, it's a little more plausible. Like maybe it wasn't quite 70 pounds, and maybe it was closer to 4 months... you know.)0
