Results. when I'm not getting results I lose hope and want to give up. When I get results I am motivated to keep doing whatever it is that I'm doing which is giving me results.0

read my will power blog below for an activity to help keep you focused. you can also read my profile to see some of the stuff that helps me.
and, at times recently, I have done a 24 hour fast to help me re-focus and I think its been very helpful for that purpose. I only mention that because you asked, but I do recommend reading Eat Stop Eat before attempting any intermittent fasting.0 -
Looking at my before picture and then looking in the mirror or at the stat sheet.0

Same here. Pictures do it for me. Looking back at what you use to look like, and then what you look like now.0

The photo of the dress I am going to wear to blow everyone away at the X-Mas party. I tend to go all out when it comes to the party (It's red carpet to me) so I want to look smoking hot.
I also have a tumblr blog where I reblogged photos of fit people. it reminds me of my goals.0 -

Want to be around for her a very long time.0 -
Buying smaller clothes really motivates me!0

How good it feels to be in shape and to wear clothes that fit nicely and actually look nice on me.0

Like everyone else the before pics and I like what I see looking back at me now. I feel guilty if I even miss one workout a week0

Fear - the fear of somehow going back to the girl I was before. I don't want that. No way, no how. That alone keeps me moving forward. I see before pictures and feel ashamed that I ever looked that way. I look at new pics and feel proud. My goals keep me moving forward. I want to see the final pictures and feel like I totally kicked butt.0

you know what motivates me more than anything else? and i think it's the weirdest most backward thing....
compliments.
if you compliment me, i will work my *kitten* off in the gym.
if you put me down, i will hide under the covers and get fatter.
i have no idea why, it's just how i work.0 -

Everyone on here keeps me on track! Some people on here are quite inspirational with their accomplishments and or struggles and that gives me that little push I need to stay focused! My son though is motivation enough for me to continue on! He's going on 16 months and already running around everywhere.. so I know I have to get in shape.. just to be able to keep up with him. :-)0

For me, I focus on long-term results. I want to look better, and I do now that I've lost 23lb, but I want to be strong and healthy as I get older. I'd like to lose more weight, but with my slow metabolism I may not, and I'm not willing to eat any less or work out more than 1hr/day. So I focus on knowing I'll be able to tackle anything in the coming years. I'm 51 and in the best shape of my life!0

Honestly is looking back at pictures and knowing I never want to feel that sad ever again while hiding behind a smile. Each step I take farther from my starting weight keeps me from ever wanting to have to do that journey all over again. Hang in there and know you are worth it!0

What keeps me motivated is thinking about my health. I want to LIVE not just be alive. I want to have fun, go on adventures and not be worn out after an hour of mild activity.
Good Health is what motivates me.... AND having people tell me I look good is kinda nice too...0 -
How great I feel from the INSIDE out.0

My kids and my desire to ensure that if based on health alone, I Will be there for them for MANY years0

Health keeps me motivated. I do this more for health than to look good. I want to live and live and live well, and that means not taking a handful of meds everday and having the energy to get out and really live life. Luckily, being healthy means have a healthy weight so i get to look good too.0

Just in case i have not told you today...YOU LOOK MAHVELOUS...0 -
All the hard work it took to lose those pounds and inches and I refuse to let the scales go up instead of down again!0

Fear and a competetive side. My wife has breast cancer (had) and I started to fear that if it took her that, in my current condition at the time, I would surely die from a heart attack at an early age. So the fear of leaving my children without either of their parents scared the hell out of me and has since motivated me to transform myself back to a healthy person. The perfect timing of a couple weight loss challenges helped motivate me to push hard to make this happen too:)0

peachy keenes photos !0

I want to find a nice gentleman to rub beards with!!
What keeps me motivated is setting lofty long term goals. For example my current long term goals include a 100 mi ride next summer. Then I set small intermediate goals that will get me towards that goals. Like a weekly mileage on my bike...
It works for me!0 -
Thank you so much for the ideas and comments Whay Motivates me is to be healthy and look great I just need to see results NOW. and I am not. But I will continue to work at it0

I'm super competetive - and fitness is a way for me to compete with myself in a healthy way. Fitness is something I can succeed in, and the only thing in my way is me. Also, I want to have healthy habits in place for the life changes I know will be coming in the next 10 years. I know if I have healthy habits and routines it will be much easier for me to maintain health gracefully. I'm honestly really scared of getting pregnant and then not being able to lose the baby weight... which kinda happened to my mom. I have a pinterest board for inspiration - everything from how I'd love my body to look to healthy recipies I find that I want to try. Also I have a kick *kitten* running playlist. Two of them actually. Last thing - going to the gym after work is me-time. Time for me to focus on nothing but my goals, and pushing myself as hard as I can.0

Seeing old photos of myself!!
I know I never want to be that person again, also I loveee to feel like I'm 'dying' while working out, somehow motivates me cause I don't wanna feel it again hahaha.0 -
I have a weight loss group that some coworkers and I founded (Weight Warriors!). All three of us are on here (just joined the other day, so my true weight loss is about 5 lbs, not 0), and we also have weekly meetings. We keep eachother motivated and hassle eachother (in a good way) if we start to fall off track. For instance, neither myself nor the other member who was going to go wanted to go to the gym. What helped was that neither one of us wanted to admit that, so we felt motivated to go becuase we didn't want to let eachother down.
We also have a financial incentive we just added. We each put in $20 and whoever loses the most weight by the new year wins the pot! It's only $60, but it's motivation enough I can already feel a greater focus.
Find some friends who are interested in achieving the same goal. Making yourself accountable is important!0
