Yay or Nay?

I say Yay, flushes out my sinus well and afterwords I like to use swimmer's ear drops to dry my ears.

YAY! They are a great thing! Have had them recommended often by doctors to me and to patients, and I recommend them to a lot of patients and everyone has had great sinus relief from them! I like the newer bottles that are just a sinus rinse - little more pressure, a lot easier to use! :) YAY YAY YAY! (I'm done now!)

I say Yay - it really does work and squirting snot out in the sink isn't as gross as carrying it around in your head all day. And bugging people with all that sniffing. :grumble: My kids do it too. They hate to blow their nose so I have them use the neti rinse and I don't have to listen to that non-stop sniffing all day. Not to mention they feel better too.

    You never know.

Using the neti pot does feel very weird, and alarming, but to me it's better than being miserable with clogged sinuses. And I hate sinus medicine.

ABSOLUTE YAH! fyi..to avoid drowning you really need to turn your head more & breathe through your mouth.

Netti-pot is one of the best things, aside from the magic bag that I have ever found.
  • I use the bottle type one. NeilMed is the brand. Way easier than the actual pot, and keeps me from trying to drown myself! I think they great especially after seeing the stuff that comes out! YUCK!

I say "yay"... and I did witness my daughter almost drown from one... funniest thing I ever saw! I think her height had something to do with it... she wasn't leaning over the sink enough! Have found that I do like the generic saline from CVS better than the actual neti brand... it doesn't have the intense burn. I used one for about six months and haven't had to use it in nearly a year. Guess it was a good year for allergies :)

I must be doing something wrong because everybody says it's awesome. Well, I actually use some saline bottle thing but I am going to guess it's the same idea...

I use the CVS brand, and never had a problem with burning either.

And yes you definitely have to lean over! And make sure your head is tilted all the way.

In HS I had a friend whose mom forced her to use a netti-pot   my friend, for whatever reason, was TERRIFIED..absolutely TERRIFIED of doing it. I laughed until I cried watching her flip out over using it...but it did work!

I, personally, would rather use a childrens snot-sucker device instead of pour water solution up my nose. I can't even do nasal spray :noway:
  • Best thing ever...I use mine every day and (knock on wood!) have avoided sinus infections for the past several years. Also only rarely have to take my claritin.

YES! I love mine. It helps tremendously during allergy season and I've gotten rid of sinus infections with it, too. It does take some getting used to, but once you get used to it, you'll love it!

They do make you feel better after.....but I'm a sissy. I used the one I bought one time then never used it again. I didn't like feeling like I had just jumped into a pool and got water up my nose.

Have to say "yay". As a person who usually gets sinus infections twice a year, I use one all the time. I've been able to knock out the frequency (less than one a year now), and when I do get one it's duration is about a week verses two/two and a half weeks.

    :: two thumbs up ::

    I say Yay! Yay! Yay!

I had a friend tell me about it when i had ANOTHER sinus infection. She said her allergist told her to use it 3 times a day when she had a flare up. I did that & my sinus infection was quickly gone. I usually use it once a day, usually at night before i go to bed. I have sleep apnea & it helps to keep my nose clear, which helps anyone sleep better, but allows my cpap mask to work properly.
