question for runners

I'm a runner - at the moment running an average of 9-12 miles a week in 3 runs plus bits of strength and stretching. But I'm having problems with back ache, especially in my lower back and even though I've had a couple of days off, the pain is still making itself very clear and I'm worried running my usual regime will worsen it

Any ideas/advice?

Thanxx

Sounds like you are hoovering over. Check your posture when you're , foam roll, strengthen your back with back exercises and if you sit at a desk job get up and stretch a bit.

Try doing some core exercises to strengthen your back - planks, and that kind of thing - I always forget the names of the other core exercises but they help!!

I get a sore back because I lean forward when I run instead of running upright. I just can't seem to get used to it. However I have found if you strengthen your core muscles it takes the strain away from your back.

I found these ( http://www.runnersrescue.com/Running_lower_back_Pain_Strain_Injury.htm ) via google, but I got a programme written up at the gym which included sit ups, squats, running step ups etc to strengthen everything else...

I hope this is helpful x Keep running if it does not make your back worse...if not does your local running shop do Gait Analysis? I got mine analysed for £10 and found I have a lazy right hip, glute, leg...so a lot of pressure is put on my left hip and lower back.

I hope it gets better :)
