Okay this is going to be a bit of toughy...
So when I first started this journey, it was about 3 years ago and my best friend and I decided to start doing Turbo Jam videos together. We were talking about what physical attributes we really couldn't wait for when we got more fit. One thing she was really excited about was "that sexy chunk of quad at the outer-front part of a girl's leg". LOL She loved that.
I lost my best friend very suddenly 1 year and 5 months ago. She died of a heart defect even she didn't know she had. Needless to say, I fell apart and gained some weight back. Then I got angry. I'm not one to open to people. She was the person who knew me inside and out. Exercise is the only thing that kept me going for a while. People deal with their issues differently. I dealt with mine by running it out, kicking it out, punching it out...basically just sweating it out. Exercise was my therapy.
So the NSV of the day in all of this: I went to the gym today as usual and did my usual routine. I usually wear capri length yoga style pants to work out in, but today I wore shorts for some reason. I don't know, guess I was feeling brave, LOL. But I caught a look at myself in the mirror at one point and there they were, "that sexy chunk of quad". I had not noticed before because my legs are usually covered from the knee up. All I could think of was her and how sexy she would think it was.
Anyway, sorry this got long, but it's been on my mind all day. Just wanted to share. :flowerforyou:

What a sad story. I also joined here because I lost one of my best friends back in March this year to cancer. Exercise helped me get through it, I'm glad it is for you too. After Howard died I went out and just ran and ran, for hours. I damaged my ankles and had to have physio, but I needed to just get outside and exhaust myself. I felt like I couldn't breathe for crying.
I am sorry you lost your friend.0 -

Ahhhh that's so cute!!!! So sorry you lost your friend. I have seen others die of heart defects at young ages and it's so sad.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. The good news is that for the rest of your life, you'll remember your friend every time you see yourself in the mirror.0
