These are the few simple things that helped me find success in my fitness journey:
1. MFP and all my motivating friends
2. Polar heart rate monitor
3. New Rules of Lifting (book)
4. Inexpensive food scale
5. C25K app
6. 100 Push-Ups Challenge app
7. ipod
8. Gym membership
These simple and inexpensive items have been with me over the past 6 months as I have lost a total of 28 pounds (20 since joining MFP) and improved my physical fitness. Finding the right tools that work for you is key!

Great job, Soccer Chick!!!
I have just a few, inexpensive things--
1) an exercise mat
2) a 40 lb. boxing bag that I got on craigslist for 20 bucks
3) a few dumbbells
4) a cheapo HRM (omron) that works fine-- I just have to estimate my own averages
5) (most expensive) decent running shoes.
Best,
Debbie0 -

I lost with the help of the people around me:
1. I speed walk with my grandson (7yo, who runs while I walk).
2. My initial weight loss motivated my son-in-law to lose 50 lbs and keep it off this past 1.5 years. Now, I must keep from gaining my weight back, so I use his continued weight control to keep me focused.
3. My husband lost about 30 lbs becasue of me, too. So he and I are now on a slow glide down to our favorite weights.
4. I have a pedometer on my cell phone. As long as I wear it, I can keep track of how far I have walked.
Simple, easy, ...
Have fun! :drinker: (lots of water)0 -

1. Logging my food.
2. Plotting my weight (I use MFP and TACTIO--I like the plotting program on TACTIO better).
3. My iPOD.
6. My MFP friends who make this process so motivating, interesting, supportive and entertaining.
5. My jogging stroller, running pals and most recently a new Polar HRM.
6. My jumprope and 8 lb hand weights.
7. Books: "Thin at Last" by Dr. Richard Williams and "The Perricone Prescription" by Nicholas Perricone.
8. My number one tool though is my desire to be fit, to try new things, shake things up and approach each day, each week, each month as a fresh opportunity to improve my health and fitness either by going back to old stuff I haven't done for a while or coming up with something new and fun to try: a new exercise, a new DVD, a new recipe, protein shake or healthy habit like taking the stairs or drinking more water.0 -
