I don't know how many calories are burned but I did this DVD 2 days ago for the first time and I can hardly walk from all the lunges and squats! My legs are majorly sore. How did you do with it? I put in 20 minutes of cardio on here on our exercise report. I wasn't too sure what to put. I would love to know myself! Good luck!0

I usually burn about 230 calories for part 1. Sometimes a little more. I've found no matter what I'm doing I burn about 10 calories/min. I definitely recommend getting a HRM it really helped me get an exact count for my calories so I wasn't eating more exercise cals than I was actually supposed to!0

The first time I tried it I got through 15 minutes (5 were warm up) and the next day I felt like I was going to die...I was sore for 4 days after that and the only thing that finally made it go away was soaking in the jacuzzi when I went to the spa...0 -

HRM = Heart Rate Monitor. I have a Polar F6 that I love. You wear one part on your wrist and the other around your chest (some don't require a chest strap). It monitors your heart rate and tells you how many calories you are burning based on your weight/heart rate. Before I got one I was just estimating calories burned and, since I was eating my exercise calories, I was eating eating a few too many calories each day. Once I got a HRM I started losing weight more consistantly!0
-
thanks for answering my question!!! can I get one at any fitness store? I saw someone talking about a Polar F6 for women. Do I have to make sure it is for ladies? Thanks again for your wisdom! I'm still new here and trying to get my barings!0

Does anyone have the name entered in the exercise log? I can't seem to find it. If so , could you please share how to find it? thanks0
-
I think in general you can enter it as "aerobics".0

I have this one and the strength training one with Jillian, Jillian:grumble:, don't know how people can work out with her, I'd be crying! Anywho, I use an HRM, that's the only accurate way you know what you are burning, GREAT investment!0
-
One thing to keep you from being sore, make sure that you don't do the same workout everyday. Especially things that work specific muscles like power sculpt. I rotate through power sculpt, walking, and biking. Just make sure that you aren't doing the same thing or you can seriously overwork your muscles and strain something.0

I just got an HRM and here's what I got:
I'm 5 '4, 138 lbs and I burned 356 calories doing the warm up (5mins), level 1 (20 mins), level 2 (10mins) and stretching on my own.
All together my HRM said 41 minutes and 356. Just a guide for someone who may be my size.0 -
Totally awesome workout!:bigsmile:0

I really like the 30 day shred, but yea, don't do it every day..I think 3x a week is ideal with cardio on the "off" days..I havent gotten sore yet as long as you do her stretching afterwards...I just ordered a HRM so I can measure how many calories I burn during it..very curious!0
-
hell i couldnt even get through 12 mins i hope i do better next time!0
-
Great work out. I did it for the first time yesterday. I do not have a HRM so im not sure yet how much i burned but i did the whole start to finish. I cringed when i seen Jillian. Im sooooo Sore today. Good luck everyone.0

THANK YOU! I'm exactly your size and I was struggling with how to log this. I appreciate you being so specific!0 -
I've been doing the Cardio Max Weight-Loss DVD. I'm not sure if it's the same DVD as the one you are using. I know that for myself I am burning 420 calories doing the level one workout. I should mention that I am 1.72 m (5'8") and weigh 19st 2lbs (268) I hope this helps.0

Just a tip for those having a hard time with cardio max- if you can convince- do it with your husband! My husband is VERY in shape and it's a good exercise for him. By that I mean, he's upping it a bit by using super heavy weights and he goes faster during the cardio bursts, but he's breathing hard, red, sweating, and ready for it all to be over by the end. That makes me not feel so bad for struggling with it!!!
It helps me not to quit to do it with him though. I can't do those weird pushups, so I just keep at normal ones at my own pace, and there's a few times I have to take a breather towards the end, but I do finish. Don't think I could unless I was working out with him.0 -
That is a great way to calibrate the burn and the calories. I just started doing both BL Cardio Max and Power Sculpt level 1. I have already "under" consumed when I did these. I will have to remember that trick! Thanks!0
-
The cardio max dvd is one of my favorites, but it got messed up(gets stuck), so can't use it. Now, my power sculpt dvd is doing the same thing. grr! It did take me a bit to progress through it, but each time it got easier for me. Now I'm working on some of Jillian's other dvds. They are killer to me(one 20 min workout=1 hour+ of the others). not trying to frighten you, just stating my experiences.0

I do Cardio Max weight loss edition and I LOVE it. I alternate with Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. I usually record it as Circuit training general. I include the warm up, but not usually the cool down.
Good Luck!0 -
Yeah, Don't give up sometimes what I do when I get to a workout I dont have the stamina to complete, I pause the Video and go... away and then I'll come back later that day and do a few more minutes.
This is actually a style called Bursting and basically you're just getting your heart rate up for a few minutes, several times a day, and you burn alot of calories this way too KEEP GOING!0 -
I looked it up and for max performance you'll burn 500 calories for the entire work out0
-
I know this is an old thread, but I just found a resource that might help everyone wondering about calories burned using this DVD.

Why go through so much work of going to other websites etc.? If you enter 30 min. of aerobics as an exercise here on myfitnesspal, it will calculate the calories for you based on your height/weight. HRMs will certainly be more exact, but all the tools are right here in front of you if you don't have one.0
