After losing 7lbs in a month I was feeling pretty good that I was on the right track. I was also feeling proud of myself that I had said I wanted to lose weight and I was sticking to it and seeing results. However, for the last two weeks I have lost nothing! My weigh in day is every Wednesday (at the same time every week) and after discovering that the scales hadn't budged again for a second week... I have to admit, I am now feeling a little deflated.

I seem to have hit a wall and I can't get past it. Overall I need to lose about 4 stone to be a healthy weight but I would be happy to have a goal of a 2 stone loss and see how I go from there. But I'm starting to think that it will never happen and I should be lucky to lose what I have.

Has anyone else experienced a wall very early on and do you get passed it? The only reason I have to lose weight at the moment is to feel better for my holiday in March 2012. My boyfriend & I haven't been away for almost 4 years due to financial reasons and now we are finally getting the opportunity to have some time away after both working very hard and every girl wants to look good in a bikini. I would love to hope I can still do it and it's just a temporary thing and that I should keep at it as I don't want to give up!

I get past plateaus by lowering my calorie intake

If losing weight was easy, everyone would be thin. Without knowing anything about you and how you eat, including your behavior regarding food and your cardiovascular health is difficult to say why people seem to give up easily. Maybe you need to gain another 2 stones before a light comes on, but i will say that wanting to look thiner in a few months for a vacation is probably not the best foundation for motivation or permenant change.
  • I disagree, for me my holiday is motivation. Every one wants to lose weight for a reason and although I know I need to lose weight, this has given me a goal and I'm trying to be realistic by saying losing two stone in five months.

With regards to my behaviours and diet etc, please see my previous post, says it all really.

I must stress that I don't want to give up as I don't see the point in giving up. I was just wondering if other people have experienced what I am experiencing and felt the urge to give up but don't and push through it and eventually see results

I understand your frustration. From what I read in your link to the other post, you are not eating all your exercise calories back? I know it seems very counterproductive, but you really may need to eat a little more. Peanut butter, some almonds, etc would be great to get in the extra calories. Just give it a shot. Don't give up!

Just stick with it then, and don't worry about times when the scale doesn't move, it happens. As long as the mirror gives you positive feedback and your mixing up your exercise now and then and challenging yourself, your weight will move.

And yes I have had bad weeks where I thought my effort was getting me nowhere and I kept at it and it levels out. It's not a steady drop off each week all the time for everyone. Sometimes you lose a little, sometimes a lot, sometimes none at all, sometimes a small or large gain. Usually after a gain, work harder, and then a big loss shows up.
