edited October 4 in Introduce Yourself
Hi everyone! I've been lurking on the boards for a few days and figured I should introduce myself. I just had my 31st birthday (on the 6th) and decided that I need to change what I'm doing if I want to get these last 10 pounds off! In HS I was underweight (I'm 5'4" and weighed between 90-100 lbs). I was super active and having a family that is naturally tiny, I had the bad habit of eating whatever I felt like without regard. I got married at 21 to my wonderful husband (10 years in Jan!!) and then entered college. I stopped doing all the sports I was and just went to class and came home but still ate the same. I gained 60 pounds over the years. In Jan of 2010 I had been sick for a few days and went to the doctor. I had the flu but my doctor informed me that my blood pressure was high. He made me come back a month later when I was better to see if it was just being sick. Nope, I was in the pre-hypertension range. He informed me that unless I wanted to take medication, I needed to lose weight.

Starting that Feb, I started to eat better and walking. I managed to lose 50 pounds last year. I've been struggling to lose and keep off the last 10 pounds. I'll lose some and then gain it right back. I'm hoping that getting involved in such an active community will help me get rid of those pesky 10! Feel free to add me!

Welcome to my fellow Texans. Here in Kingwood, TX in NE Houston, its just as hard to keep the weight in check. I recently made a decision to slim down for many of the same reasons. Dealing with Pre-hypertension, fear of becoming diabetic, even poor circulation. Life is too short to live without care and concern for our health. So I support everyone that's willing to use a little eating discipline and add some exercise to their lifestyle so they can live a long and fulfilling life. Kudos to you for the commitment.

Thanks for the support!! So far I've already lost a pound!! I haven't logged it b/c I don't officially weigh in till Monday and I'm hoping it'll be more. Reading through the posts I've found that everyone is so encouraging and has lots of advice to offer!! I'm looking forward to losing my last 10 here!
