Morning wake-me-ups

So I totally know that too much caffeine isn't that great for your body. I am studying nutrition. But so far I have no clue what can wake a person like my self up for the day. I do get plenty of sleep...However when in my teen years I was an energy drink and Starbucks fiend. Even 5 hour energy (which used to wake me up, don't)
It is too the point where a Venti Vanilla Latte with 3 shots of espresso just is not cutting it.
Any ideas or suggestions for what wakes you up is greatly appreciated! lol

I've heard quite a few times that apples are supposed to be better at waking you up than coffee however I have no idea if that is actually true or not.
Maybe try working out in the morning?0 -
I used to work out @ 5am everyday but always got a crash @ 10am lol0

3 shots of espresso and still not awake??? Yeah, you need to cut back on the caffeine. Your body is so used to it that it doesn't respond to its effects anymore.0

Quit caffeine, or go down to one shot. If you leave it long enough your tolerance will disappear. Apples are a good wake-me-up!0

I will preface this by saying I'd like to see you develop a non-stimulant based "wake me up;" I agree with the morning workout suggestion, BUT
How about do a caffeine detox (which is gonna make you feel like **** and be tired, you will literally feel sick while you do this), wait a week, and then start reintroducing caffeine back into your diet? You have developed tolerance. Whenever this happens in the body, you require larger and larger amounts of the drug (caffeine is a drug girl!) to achieve the same effect. You would basically be resetting your system's response to caffeine.
Caveat: based on what you are saying, your withdrawal symptoms are going to be HORRIBLE. I can promise you that you will at minimum have some serious stomachaches, headaches, and changes in bowel functioning. It is temporary, but might make you not want to complete the detox.
Good luck on whatever you do!0 -
I'd suggest a detox week or weekend. My mom drinks coffee every day and can not function without it. But every so often she takes a break and doesn't drink any coffee. Grated she isn't very productive during those days, her tolerance goes down greatly so that when she starts having coffee again it affects her much more.
I drink lots of caffeine during the week when I am studying or have to stay up late doing school work. But I always try not to drink it on the weekends, to give my body a break
To deal with caffeine headaches, get some excedrin migraine. You'll probably want other medicines around to deal with the other side effects of not having caffeine0 -
Another disclaimer: While I am an addictions specialist, in no way am I giving you medical advice. This is just some free, unrelated to my profession, MFP feedback.
As an addictions specialist, I recommend that you kick the caffeine habit and find a nonstimulant means of "waking up." If you are seriously crashing, you should see a doctor to rule out and medical reasons for feeling so tired.0 -
Days off or weekends I don't usually drink coffee or anything. Because I don't have to be up real early. I do get headaches with out any. When I was a teen I was anemic (17-19 yrs) I just wanted to sleep allll the time. I had to take iron, but I don't think that I am now. Pretty sure I'm just overworked.
I just want energy, not supplemented. Being active helps but it also makes me SO tired
I am a nanny to 3 little boys all under 5 and I want to
Keep up. I just find that by 1 or 2 pm I am tuckered out. And I'm there til 530 lol0 -
Probably not healthy either but guarana works.0

I also workout @ 5am. Couldn't do it without coffee.0

Run! Seriously. Wakes me up every morning.0
