Running Earphones?

Hello!
In a couple of weeks I will be doing a 5K, and it's my first time to run one. I've done some in the past, but have only walked them. Also, I am doing my first half marathon in January...AHHH!...and for both, I will be using my iPod attached to my arm. Right now, I just use the cheap, $10, pair from Target, and I get a new one every couple of months. They're fine for the gym, or walking, or just listening to music with, but they're horrible when running! I have to readjust them a lot, and they wear out quickly or have bad sound.
I am looking for a pair of great earphones, reasonably inexpensive, to use for running. And ideas?
Thanks!

I realized that I much prefer to run with my iphone in an arm band and turn the music up and forego headphones all together (I feel a bit safer running at night without them anyway)
If that isn't an option I'd suggest the kind that are more "clip" like and go both behind and in front of the ear.
Good luck with the 5k!0 -
I just bought some now for the gym... they are the best ever if you like to listen to your music clearly and with good bass... they are phillips rich bass SHE9550 ... Cost me $40 NZD... best ever tho!!0

I agree: Headphones with ear loops are better. I have a cheap pair that's good enough to run with, and don't fall out (as much).

Jaybird bluetooth headphones. Worth the money.0

SnuggBuds. They stay in your ears and they keep outside noises out. I got mine for about $30.0

Get these!!! http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Neckband-Headphones-SHS5200-28/dp/B003CJTR8M/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1321058028&sr=1-1
I've gone through two pairs of them (on my second right now) the first pair lasted a good 4 years or so. They're a really good price and have pretty good quality sound. A lot of people typically go for the ear buds but for me they fall out of my ears. These headphones are on the ears and behind the neck which makes it nice for running (they don't slip). The wire is nice and long so if you have to use a waist mount for your mp3 player it's long enough to reach.0 -
I just know I don't like the sound proofing earbuds because they block out tooooo much external noise. You want some noise to get through so you can know if there is a car, person trying to pass you, or whatever. I also find that with those type I hear a lot of "thump" noises from the cord bouncing around while running.
I recommend a pair that loops over your ears, as someone else recommended. The ones I have a Sony and I think they run like $20-30.0 -

it's BOSE and pricey for 100$ but great sound quality and will not fall out. the werid shape looks strange but it works. they come in 3 sizes.0
