Am so mentally exhausted w losing weight. It's starting to frustrate me. I've been working out on and off since may and. but last month it was strictcly 4, 5xs a week. Watching my calorie in take about 1500. NO weight lose at all. I weighed 190, 6 weeks after having my baby. ( she's 7 mnths old now) and the scale doesnt' budge. I got down to 188 but gained 2lbs back. i don't want to give up but dont know how to stay motivated. am 5'5 and weighed 147 before I had my kids. ssoooo soooo sad :(

It really depends what ur eating..if u wanted to open ur diary I could take a look..
  • If your breastfeeding then that could be the reason. I breastfed my son until he was 15mths, and even being on a nursing mothers diet I couldn't lose a single pound.

Maybe that is not enough calories? Maybe you gained muscle? There are many factors that can play in to this.....How many carbs do you eat, how much sodium? how many processed foods rather than fresh? Sometimes the number of calories is not as important and HOW you eat the calories....it took me 2 years to learn how to lose weight and keep it off. I started this in 2008 and didn't hit my goal weight till this summer.....Don't get stressed out, just look at the numbers, make some changes and see if that helps....maybe low carb will work for you....maybe not....everyone is diff in how they lose and what they can eat and lose....

Good luck...message me if you want to... :)

    Try that in English, please.

    Weight loss is diet.

    Getting fit is exercise.

You can lose weight without getting fit.

You can get fit without losing weight.

In other words, exercise has nothing to do with weight loss. Exercise is not the reason you lose or gain. It's all a matter of what you eat.

I know it can be very frustrating at times but you just have to set your goals and stick to them. After my second child was born in 2008, I lost some of the extra weight but then I was stuck around the 200 lb mark for almost 2 years. I would lose some and then it would stop. I truly believe a lot of my troubles were due to stress. Then at the beginning of this year I declared it The Year of ME. I dropped some weight and then it stopped again. It was May 27th when my journey to a healthier version of ME began, I found MFP and my story of fitness has been documented here. Plus, I reminded myself of what YEAR it was and put myself first. Over the summer I completed Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred and Ripped in 30, along with some other exercises too. By mid-September I was down 25 lbs and feeling great. October was a bit of a stand still. The month got busy and then Halloween happened. But I started up with 2 challenges here on MFP and the weight and inches are starting to come off again.

Sorry to run on like this but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone and the support is here if you want it.

Try doing some weight training. That will help build muscle and the muscle will help burn the fat off.

Stayed focused and you will start to lose the weight.

    Um what? Lol

no you don't have to workout to lose weight. It will help your body composition, but it is not needed.

Also it is difficult to gain muscle on a calorie deficit.

I know what you are feeling I had 5 kids. My suggestion to you is to get a personal trainer or join a "class" where you work out with others. If you ever want to get back into those pre-baby jeans you need to take time for yourself.

working out w someone never helps. everyone usually has different schedules. I tried several times but i work out best on my own...
i do 35-45 mins on the eliptical and i do streght training w 10lb weights.. and i do squats, lunges, jumping jacks and other moves before i do cardio..

This is important. You're requiring more calories. Breastfeeding burns many calories, and if you're breastfeeding and not replacing it with adequate calories, you're in the same position as those people on here who don't realize they need to eat more of their "exercise calories" back.

I disagree. Calories in vs calories out. If you burn calories while working out, then you have more calories out. So yes, exercise helps immensely when it comes to weight loss. It's also a fabulous health benefit.

i thought i was logging more often. i write my food diary on paper and if i have time i log it online..
  • I took a look at your food diary and there's no water for today. Since your nursing you have to drink more, are you and just not logging it?

I find that when i don't drink my 8 glasses a day, my weight lose stops.

I think you should reduce your calorie intake. Maybe down to 1200.
Please do not listen to this advice. It's absolutely not healthy for you as a breastfeeding mother.

The number of calories you burn exercising are meaningless, if you end up overeating anyway. Everything comes back to the diet and what and how you eat, it doesn't matter whether you are exercising or not. There are a thousand excellent reasons for exercising, but if you are relying on your exercise to lose weight, you're doing it wrong.
