I was just wondering how dedicated ( Or Obsessed ) all of my fellow MFP members are... So When Logging your food intake do you log every little thing you consume? For example, I eat pepper on everything I eat, I also eat Sriacha hot sauce on basically everything I eat. I however don't log them, They don't have many calories so I just don't worry about them because I am 95% of the time 100-200 calories under my daily goal. ( I am usually eating 1200 calories when I am allowed 1500) I know that the hot sauce I eat is a bit high in sodium but I also drink a lot of water to hopefully counteract the sodium I eat. Anyway I was just wondering does about logging "the little stuff"
And while I am posting this anyways I'd like to say I wouldn't mind adding a few more awesome MFP members to my list of amazing and supportive friends, so if you think that's you send a FR.

The only things I don't log are spices and vitamins.0

You can't get an exact count of your calories burned, so there's really no point in trying to be that exact with your calories consumed.0
-
I don't log herbal tea, chillis, garlic, soy sauce or hot sauce. It's not like I'm cheating with chocolate lol!0
-
No, because it's boring and I am happy with estimates.0

I do log everything because it also tells me how I am doing on salt intake, vitamin intake..etc I think these things are arguably as important as calories
for me anyways.

I log everything, including condiments, except for those that are really nothing, like pepper. But anything that has sodium or sugars I definitely log. I also do log my vitamins since I track my iron and Vitamin D, I want that daily multi to count!0
-
I'm with you on the not logging hot sauce or pepper. I put hot sauce on pretty much everything!0
-
i log pretty much everything but if i take a bite of boyfriend's food or grab like 2 crackers to snack while my stuff is cooking i don't log it. just little things here and there. i don't worry about it because i'm usually around 500 below my goal.0
-
I do my best for a more accurate reading of what I am eating. Sriracha may not have calories but has a good amount of sodium. I think it depends on what you are tracking.0
-
I don't log herbs & spices. That's it though - everything else I log, even the little things.0
-
I basically don't log things that have less than 5-10 calories. I am not really following my sodium or anything like that. I don't log diet beverages or coffee, eg, or salt or pepper or tabasco. But if I eat a Hershey Kiss- yep I log it. Or put catsup on something- yep I log it.0
-
If I have a mint or a piece of gum, I don't log it. I don't log ketchup or mustard either, but I do log mayo.0
-
The only thing I really don't track are super low calorie drinks like sugar free flavoured water, or occasionally diet soda.0
-
Usually if it has less than 5 calories per serving, I won't bother.0
-
I don't eat hot sauce but I do eat pepper but I don't log it or other seasonings. I do log salad dressings, mustard, mayo etc...0
-
i log vitamins, condiments, bites, everything! I count my calcium, protein, sugars and fats so I want to be sure I'm getting enough of everything. I also am a little bit calorie obsessed, so that's just me. I wouldn't worry about things unless they have high sodium or sugar contents0
-
I log sauces I use, and usually all my drinks (unsweetened iced tea, rooibos, water, milk, etc.).
I do not log herbs unless I am entering a recipe for future use (whether I share the recipe or not)., but everything else goes in. I even log cough drops :laugh:0 -
Everything that has calories I log.0
-
I agree, if it is less than 5 cals per serving I don't log it unless I am eating a lot of it.0
-
I log EVERYTHING because if I don't I feel like I'm cheating myself and then I feel guilty. I also like to log everything because then I can see exactly what I'm eating and how much protein, carbs, etc. I'm getting each day. Through the week I eat the exact same thing every day, but on weekends is where I up my calories a bit so logging on those days is imperative.0

Wow, So Many responses!
I usually wont log mainly my pepper intake and my hot sauce intake, It is just to hard for myself to log every little thing, I do log things like salad dressing, Mayo, and ketchup ect. though. I sometimes add quick cals on little stuff. I know the hot sauce has quite a bit of sodium but I usually dont worry about it. I am usually not going over on my sodium by much, Plus like I said I do drink A LOT of water ( about 160-125 oz a day ) to hopefully counteract my sodium. Thats another question I am curious about, Does drinking alot of water truly counteract your sodium intake?

Becareful with not logging soy sauce it's very high in sodium!
I dont log herbs, spices gum,. everything else I am pretty good with0 -
No I use tapatio hot sauce... no calories. Sometimes I eat gum and don't log it (gum is like 5 to 10 calories depending on the brand). Estimating seams to be working for me. If at some point I stop loosing I might reevaluate my estimations though.0

Several of you mentioned logging your vitamins. How do you go about doing that? I mean, are there some of them in the food database? Do you log it with the meal when you take them? I haven't thought about logging those, but it makes sense!0
-
I don't log everything and I don't log everyday, but I try to be as close as possible if I do plan to log, otherwise I leave myself a note in my daily log that something was off, or I decided not to continue logging everything. anyway, If I forget that I added a little cheese or pepper to my egg, or added a little milk to my oatmeal, the world won't end, lol0
-
No veggies, spices, vitamins, etc... anything really little to no cal.0
-
I don't log Domino's garlic and herb dip. I figure one little packet once a week is a treat worth absorbing.0
-
Yes, I do log EVERYTHING I eat....and like you, I also put black pepper, sriracha and hot sauce on everything as they are loaded with sodium.
I also log lemon wedges, herbal teas, herbs, spices, supplements, etc.0 -
The only things I don't log are spices and vitamins.
