Late 40s and in College

Anyone out there dealing with the stress of family, work, extracurricular activities, AND going to college at the same time? Are you like me: trying to stop the stress-eating? Have you found a way to do homework and write papers without the munchies gnawing at you? I know there are things like carrots and such to eat, but that's not what the cravings are craving.

well i am younger but i am in college while also trying to balance work, dieting, friends, and family as well as doing volunteer projects from time to time and it definitely gets hard to not eat emotionally.0

I grab carrots when typing papers and doing homework
Edit: apparently I didn't read the last sentence haha you learn to curb the cravings with healthy things. I used to hate carrots but love them now0 -
Uh yup, I have uni, work, family, volunteer work, friends, hobbies, and am planning a wedding. Very hard to stop the stress eating. I struggle daily and sometimes do well sometimes don't. Exercise does help though, just have to make it a priority to get it in.0

I am with you. I am 37 years old and I am a mother of 5 children, work full time and I am a full time college student. I find it is hard to eat on a normal schedule because I am up all hours of the night finishing papers and never enough time to exercise. I will graduate next Saturday with my associates degree and I don't go back until January to begin my bachelor degree, maybe in these next few weeks I will be able to set my schedule so that when college resumes that I will be ready.0

I'm with you....late (very late) 40's, full time job, family, shift working husband, and taking online (which means I have to do it all myself with little guidence)Law Clerk courses. I find that I want candy as my stress reliever. But I am trying to substitute apple slices and raw veggies rather than the full bags of sour keys that I really want !!!!0

Glad to hear I'm not alone. I did my bachelors completely online and am now working a masters. And about to embark on divorce. Three kids, 2 of which have education plans, ....
So much going on that when I'm sitting here researching I just feel like I'm going to jump out of my skin if I don't get something sweet. I took a nutrition course a few years ago and learned that increased cerebral activity increase cravings for sugar, which is the brain's fuel. You'd think I'd be a genius by now with all the sugar I've eaten! Gained 35 lbs doing the bachelors.
@Sandie - you're right. Going to school online is "guided self-teaching." Anyone who says it's the easy way out will get my boot. Law courses would definitely make me eat!! LOL! I'm going for MS in Mental Health Counseling
@tbranch - Holy cow! How do you do it!?? Definitely be sure you get the BS! You've come this far!
@youngmum - it's your wedding? When is it?
@cardillos - I have my BS in Psychology. Love mental health! I also do dog rescue transports on the weekends. I can help the dogs without bringing them all home!
@skierxjes - love your profile picture!0
