I switched from white sandwich bread to wheat because it hurts my tummy less... Is it weird that i find white bread too sweet now? why is that? :/

  • Probably because white bread if full of crap including sugar! Great that you now prefer the healthier option.
  • I hate white bread!!! If I can help it we never buy it.

Try not eating peanutbutter, or switching to natural (just nuts) for a month or so...then go back to eating regular peanutbutter.

Thissss. White bread doesn't typically have more or much more sugar than wheat. :P I prefer the taste of wheat bread for like sandwiches and stuff. But I love me some fresh Italian bread or some nice soft dinner rolls to dip in soup and what-nots. :D They do not agree with my tummy - but I gotta have it sometimes! lol

I find that as you cut out processed/sugary stuff you are much more aware of how sweet things really are. I used to drink cider but I find it too sweet now... so I drink beer instead!

Or, you could be pregnant

Mm, I see that. It's still what she meant by it, though (imo). :P I prefer whole grain wheat over anything, but I won't say no to a good french loaf.
  • Taste buds change. That's about all I can add to it.

I used to drink pop/soda all the time and then I quit for a year or two. One day I decided to have a Dr.Pepper, my once favorite pop, and I almost choked on the syrup/sugary taste.

Things just change and adapt. If you started eating lots more white bread again you eventually wouldn't think it was that sweet anymore.
  • Gee - I see I started a debate with my comment. I did mean more and just so you know where this came from - I just happened to be reading this article this morning so it was still in my mind

I guess at the end of the day it is going to depend on what brand you go for and where you buy your bread. no bread is apples for apples:)

Hahaha! I know they both have sugar, but for me, white bread (just the sliced sandwich kind) tastes sweeter now for no apparent reason! A friend of mine said he felt the same way and we sat scratching our heads for a while. We have no idea what could be THAT different, if anything, hahaha.

Oh, and soda? I gave it up for quite a while in the beginning. I tried one at my first camp out? So sweet it tasted like some weird sugary poison! I almost choked and fell over! XD
  • And to top that off I can't stand white bread anymore. Feels like I am eating cardboard. I tend to go for grainy breads or wholeweat which have much more flavour and a preferable texture (just my taste).

I used to love white bread, but now? I can't stand the taste nor the texture of it. I can't explain it - but I just don't like it now. Never would have thought I'd stop liking white bread! I used to LOVE it.

Same here! Now a pbj sandwich made on white bread is more of a treat than a normal occurrence. :D
