If I make oatmeal w/ steel-cut oats, I use apple butter to sweeten it, then add a handful of nuts for some crunch and protein.

Walnut and Craisins with a little cinnamon sprinkled on top. I'm not a lover of oatmeal and the nuts and craisins help me tolerate the texture.

I like to have my oatmeal with a little vanilla yogurt and some fruit like blueberries, a cut up banana, peaches or strawberries.

I add all kinds of things....
2T shredded apple and some cinnamon
    1/2 mashed banana and vanilla
    1/2 chopped pear and nutmeg
    1/4 cup halved raspberries
1/4 cup blueberries and a bit of milk

I add all my additions before cooking and usually add chopped walnuts or almonds after cooking, just like 1 teaspoon or so.

I eat oatmeal 4-5 days a week and never get sick of it. Enjoy.

    Love oatmeal!

    It's great plain but also:

    Raisins and fat-free milk
Other dried fruit - apricots are really good
    Trail mix
    Maple syrup or brown sugar
    Honey
    Nuts
    Fruit

    Enjoy!

A TBSP of brown sugar and a healthy shake of pumpkin pie spice, maybe some sliced banana. Or 1 TBSP homemade peanut butter and a TBSP of chocolate chips if I am feeling bad!
