Is there a reason you're avoiding actual food and eating so little?
  • The Shakes are the only diet that ive actually lost weight and stuck to. All other diets Ive lost a few pounds and then its stopped and never lost any more.

If you genuinely want honest opinions, it's terrible. You aren't eating much actual food and not even coming close to getting enough calories. Why don't you take a look at other people's diaries to get an idea of what yours should look like?

if you didn't actually want honesty, and just wanted platitudes, then...well...I can't help.

Have you tried the eating more (actual) food and exercising diet? Or just the starve yourself and take this pill/drop/shake instead? What you are “eating” is neither healthy nor sustainable. Are you going to drink shakes and stay under 1200 calorie every day for the rest of your life?

Umm...OP, please eat some real food.

    Just TRY it.

Find out your TDEE (look in the Unofficial MFP Faq group for more info). Then eat a calorie deficit of REAL FOOD. You don't need shakes nor supplements unless you can't get the nutrients required from real food.

To be frank, your diary is utterly ridiculous and it hurts my eyes to view it.

Here is the link to the TDEE thread in the FAQ group. Also please peruse the other good information there.

Agreed with the above. Drinking shakes is a bad way to lose weight, what happens when you decide it's time to eat real food again? You are far better off eating clean unprocessed foods instead of drinking your meals. One shake in a day is fine assuming you're eating real food otherwise. I made my diary public, feel free to take a look and see what it looks like.

Milkshakes don't bring all the boys to the yard.

I do not know how you can put yourself through the pain of consuming little to no real food. A grocery store is FULL of nutritious items that you can get so much more sustainment out of. Please, search through some of our diaries here and get some ideas. Mine is open to view, as well as others in this very thread.

Hey, kiddo. Some great advice here. I think you'll find yourself feeling better, with less hunger and temptation to binge by consuming real food.

I'll bet you that you'll save some real dough on your grocery bill by ditching the shakes. Real food will cost less than those shakes. Try using the "Search" button just above this thread, searching for these three words: healthy food budget. You'll find a wealth of great ideas from other MFP members.

    Good luck! :drinker:

I'm a newb here but real food is definitely the way to go, life change is the key, pick a healthy path and stick too it. I've been overweight all my life but now I am changing that, one pound a week, most will say that isn't enough but I want it to stay gone forever and that is the healthy path I've chosen. Find a healthy path, surf the diaries, and be patient, good weight loss takes time and a lot of effort on your part, exercise, healthy food, these are all steps to a long and sickness free life.

as a foodie i love to cook, and on the diet/healthy eating what ever you want to call it, i get a bigger buzz out of cooking meals for the whole family and getting them to eat healthy too. my hubby didnt know that he had lost weight till he had to make another not in his belt. even my son is enjoying the low fat meals (but not the veg, but im working on that)

if you do enjoy cooking, get in the kitchen and experement with diffrent low fat dishes, you can even freeze most dishes too

I think if you keep relying to much on thoes shakes, without any satisfactory progress to you personal goals, than you're going to become discouraged,

I would rather see a person eat sensable wholesome, well portioned meals, and use the shakes, only for when you don't have time or maybe to just help you between breakfast, and lunch. etc.

The first meal is the most important and your generally allowed more carbs for this particular meals than the other "regular meals" Just make sure they're nice whole grain, low to descent sugar related, and possibly fruit, to give you that morning energy that gets you to the afternoon.

whatever your last meal is keep the carbs low, the only exception would be if it was a post workout meal.

Sometime ago someone gave me a good overall theory for a descent carb goal, and that was 1gram per pound that you weigh. start with that and try to decrease it nice and steady as weeks progress. but it only works with complex carbs.

Don't at anytime take giant leaps into dieting. You will ultimately crash this way, and discourage once again. start simple.

before I started I began by just having less soft drinks, than I graduated to having either diet brands or none, followed next by white breads into wheats, etc, etc every other couple a weeks make a slow progressive change, On the other hand to tackle everything head on and jump straight into a hard diet and exercise routine can take a lot of dedication, and exteme motivation, anyone can do this regardless of skill our handycap, it's just about asking yourself "how bad do I want it" and "What am I willing to do"

it's great that you already show interest and involved in the forums, I bet you'll figure things out and you'll do great! Good Luck :)

    Your trolling.. right?

Eat some food and then try again.

I drink protein shakes but they are supplements to meals.. not meals themselves.

so i'm going to echo everyone's sentiments and tell you that if you want to lose weight and get the body you want you need to eat REAL food. there is no way that you're getting all of the nutrients that you need from those shakes. my guess is the reason you can't lose weight on any other diet is because your body has already started eating up muscle due to the lack of protein & nutrients in your diet. by doing this you're only hurting your metabolism NOT helping it and you will never lose fat, just lean body mass, further reducing your metabolism, and making it harder and harder for you to lose/maintain weight. your profile says you want to have a child one day but that is going to be pretty hard when your body can't carry the child.
  • Alright Thank You All For Your Input. Im seeing a nurse atm who knows about the shakes and hasn't warned me against it. I have taken all of your comments on board thank you!
