Quick added cals

Sorry if this sounds a dumb question, but I have noticed in one or two diaries entries for "quick added calories". And they more often than not seem to be large amounts of calories. Im a bit baffled - what would this mean? If it means a binge-time how do you know you covered everything? Not that Im planning on binge-time, but hey we're all human and sometimes I slip like everone else lol.
Just wondered! Thanks.

i know in my case, sometimes i'm lazy and cannott find what i ate in the database so i just quick add the calories by looking at the package the old fashioned way.0

I've used it for something that's not in the database, or a meal at a restaurant where they've posted calorie counts but not individual nutrient info.0

I used it yesterday for my work holiday pot luck lunch. No way to track all of the calories. I tired to be reasonable, but I went for the gravy too... I quick added 800 calories. That is probably close0

Ah yes. Of course. Never thought of that lol. Thanks.0

My guess is binge time or a buffet dinner that is difficult to calculate. There are some resources online that will tell you that the average plate at a chinese buffet has 2,000 calories.
I try to stay away from quick add, personally. I use it when I had little nibbles of things that are hard to count and I always estimate higher, in case I am wrong.
P.S. I've seen waaaaaay "dumb"er comments on MFP. This one seems legit enough to me0 -
I use it when I eat out at a restaurant and no nutritional information is available. It's just your best guess based on your previous knowledge gained from logging your at-home cooked meals.0

I do this but add a bit more than I think it is. I would rather my guess be over by 100 than under by 500
