McDonalds -- So Not Worth It!

Hi all,
Yesterday was Marathon Monday here in Boston, and since it is also Patriots' Day it is truly a city-wide holiday in every aspect . . . if you aren't running the race, most likely you are hanging out in one of the restaurants/bars/cafes that line the race route just to participate in the energy and cheer people on as they go by.
I had planned for yesterday being a slightly decadent day, as it usually is, so I got up early and did extra cardio and ate a healthy, low cal breakfast. The day was great and a lot of fun, but after the race and several cocktails my friends decided to grab a bite at McDonalds instead of waiting for a table at the very busy area restaurants. I was fine with the idea because as I said I had budgeted for a "cheat" day . . .
HOWEVER, after 3 McNuggets and a handful of fries, my stomach felt horrible! After 3 weeks of eating right and making healthy food choices, my body just flat out rejected the nastiness of McDonalds food! I couldn't believe how gross I felt . . . but I was so proud of my body for realizing that it didn't want that crap. Such an awesome transformation to see/feel within myself.
Just wanted to share!

It happens quick, don't it?
It was the grease. I can eat a nice grilled steak no problem, but anything battered and fried tastes like dung now. Your body and your tastes have adjusted. Congratulations.0 -
ya...it is amazing what our bodies will get used to
when you eat cleaner,,,,and then have some crap...your body wonders what the hell you are doing to it and lets you know
live and learn I guess0 -
And, how come you were not running the marathon???  Just teasing...
I agree with you. And your body will let you know when you feed it the wrong foods...It is so funny how some of us will not eat those foods but still feed them to our children. It is chicken right? Yeah right!!! :noway: :noway: I used to be one of those moms...not anymore. I can still go to a fast food place but will order the salad with grilled chicken but it is very rare I go to a fast food joint these days...have a great one!!! :flowerforyou:0 -
It's funny how your body starts to rebel after eating healthy for awhile! I don't think I could eat any fast food if I tried! I learned I have a bad reaction to wheat, just by cutting it out of my diet. Alcohol hugely affects me now and I pay for it for about 5 days, just having one beer or a couple glasses of wine! I am a health nut and didn't realize it! God help me if I had an energy drink...I'd probably really grow wings from a Redbull!
Happy Health!

Bah, you got to go watch, why do I never have a job that takes off Patriots day!!!???
All my friends are down in the city, and I'm stuck in Burlington, Installing a Sharepoint server and sneaking peeks at the redsox on MLBlive as they TROUNCE the Orioles. Damn it!
Good for you on the McD's thing. One of these day's I'll get down there (I'm thinking of running in it next year, if I can get sponsored.)0 -
At the risk of going on a tangent, how much does it cost to enter the race?0
-
Ok I watch the video, that was just gross. Really makes me think twice about going there.0

besides the 150 dollars it costs.
you either have to be sponsored or have qualified in one of the BMA's certified marathons in the past year. Even then, they choose from a pool, so you aren't guaranteed.
They allowed 20K people this year, they routinely get way more applicants than that, so that is why they do it this way.0 -
Wow, didn't realize it was so involved!! It would be most impressive if you got in Banksy!0

ew I just watched the video on the 4 year old cheeseburger. That is truly disgusting. The fries were gross too!0

I know exactly what you mean, I tasted ONE french fry, and it felt like I had a nasty coating of grease in my mouth...I just can't eat at any fast food place but Subway!!!0 -
I only wish I had this issue.

Sorry to rub it in . . . . I live on the race route, right near the finish line, and I work from home unless I am traveling, so it's easy for me to jump into the action . . . . I've had two surgeries on my ankle and it's still not perfect so running in general is hard for me -- I'm not sure running the marathon is in my future, but I'll be happy to cheer you on if you get in next year!0 -
I used to eat that stuff and still feel horrible ..i was so addicted to eating it and lazy I didnt care how it made me feel after....now that I put thought into what I eat and how much i excercise...Mc.Donalds is off limits ...0

Sometimes I get really sick after mcdonalds, but not really wendys. Thats probable because I only eat the spicy chicken from there. Beef from those places make me feel sick!0
