What about throwing babies in a pool

But that is when comparing a 10lb baby with a 10lb dumbbell

Without that stick, I'd really be wondering what he's doing, and if he's building muscle and burning calories.

Another one of these posts, really? When people say muscle weighs more than fat, they mean that BY VOLUME, muscle is heavier than fat. If you take a piece of muscle and a piece of fat, and they're exactly the same size, the muscle will weigh more. Muscle has a higher MpV (mass per volume) than fat. That's all there is to it.

Or in simpler more scientific terms... muscle has a higher density than fat.

Correct. If only everyone said it this way, we could avoid so much confusion and baby giraffe deaths.

But if everyone else who knows what someone means when they say 'muscle weighs more than fat' could just remember that its just a term and we all 'get it' we wouldnt need these incessant posts.

This is a really good point. Who is going to give first? It is incorrect to say muscle weighs more than fat. Does it matter? I don't know. when I read that statement it makes my ears itch. Could be unrelated, though.

There have been conversations - very, very long ones - with people who actually did not understand that it was a density issue. Or perhaps did not have a grasp of density.

If only we had an MFP FAQ where we could simply point people to....

In fact, their grasp of density was perhaps too great.
