So I am pregnant and I was wondering if poppy seeds are ok to eat? I asked it on a pregnancy board on thebump.com and got nothing but some smart *kitten* responses. I really seriously do not know and would like a serious answer, so if anybody knows please tell me!
Thank you!!
Thank you!!

Yeah. It would take an awful lot to make an impact. I ate poppyseed dressing on my salads and "everything bagels" (which have poppy seeds) while pregnant with no problems at all (for me or baby). It's way less than even the anesthetic they give you in an epidural.0

Information regarding safety and efficacy in pregnancy and lactation is lacking. The seed is generally recognized as safe when used as food.
I have never been advised not to eat poppy. I was given a HUGE list of foods/natural herbs items to avoid (by my midwife), and poppy seeds was not on that list.0 -
