  • I have good days and bad days with the pain but always pain .. I've gone to several drs and they all say surgery would not benefit me, yet. Eventually, I'll have to, but for now, my chance of success is only about 30% (don't like that number at all)... just a waiting game. So, I've chosen to do what I can to help myself

We are just taking him and his best friend to dinner (his choice of place, which is a buffet place, which means salads for me LOL).... I like that the kids are getting older and don't expect "parties" that cost an arm & leg

OK off to my workout ...

heather--sorry surgery isn't an option now. i mean, it's good not to have to have surgery but bad that the suffering continues. hope you enjoyed your workout.

i just got back from the grocery store and for once actually enjoyed it. i wasn't crazy tempted to eat everything junky. i did buy goodies (for the kids--wink wink) but was excited enuf about my own yummies that i don't care. i just made Duncan hines oven ready homestyle brownies for the kids for after school. i may have one--if it's in my cals. and the sugar cereal i got them is not really kinds i like so not tempting. i know it's bad--but i let my kids have sugar cereal for after school snacks. it's fast, portable and fortified. (that's what i tell myself anyway)

i made a pnut butt banana smoothie for lunch--yum!! first time and put the info in database. (see my recipe post for more info). and i want to try to make these "earth bars", a recipe from familyfun.com
you can sub applesauce for some butter/sugar, use whole wheat flour and then a bunch of add-in's as desired. looks good and satisfying for me (to get my sweet carbs but with the punch of nutrition too).
i'll let you know how they turn out.

now it's back to dishes and laundry as usual. enjoy your afternoon! :flowerforyou:

    Hey all,
I'm poppin' in to say hi and to mark the thread so I can catch up later. I know I haven't been posting much lately, but I haven't fallen off the wagon. It's just finally unfreezing here and after, what 8 months of being suck in the house, I am lovin' the outdoors!!

melinda--glad you're enjoying the outdoors! it must be such a welcome change.

the weather here has warmed up for the first part of the week --89. whew! i'm so glad i tried the leslie sansone dvd's b/c now i can do it even when it's too hot out there. also, i don't like being in the bright sun.

    that's all for now---
  • hey all. Just checking in. Been at the hospital all day and am tired. My good friend had a hysterectomy today and I went to keep her husband company since their family lives away. They tried for 10 years to have children and it never happened. The surgery took almost 4 hours and they had to also remove part of her bowl and her appendix. God bless her!

Last week was a bad stress week and I didn't exercise at all and ate and ate and ate. Guess it's good to have a week like that just not every week like before. Kids have had a 4 day weekend due to snow days and I was happy to be out of the house today! :noway:
  • Allyson, I hope your friend recovers fully & quickly :flowerforyou:

My daughter has a fever and is not feeling well at all... so I'm sure I won't get a workout in unless she takes a nap or something (but she's one of those kids that doesn't like to sleep lol). Hope she gets better soon

    :flowerforyou: good morning!
allyson, that was so kind of you to be with your friend. it's hard enuf to have surgery, but having people who care about you around can help. i pray for her speedy and complete recovery.

heather--my #2 is sick (AGAIN) too. low fever, stuffy nose, and cough. she took an advil and has an appetite. i dunno. she wants to go to speech lessons--ok. but i don't know if i should send her to pre-school. i'm sure that's where she keeps picking up these things anyway. but i feel guilty having my kid be the germie one. then again, i don't care to keep her home if she's ready for axn.
you'd think i could be more decisive! it's just that #1 was/is rarely sick so not much practice on this. it seems #2 is going to be the normal sickie one who gets sick often and throws up too. GREAT

enuf rambling--time to get on with the morning! later--
  • Stacey...

here's what my pediatrician told me years back and I still remember like it was yesterday. I had asked "is it ok for him to go to school with this cold?" (he had a low grade fever around 100 and cough and sniffles). She said "where do you think he got it in the first place?" LOL!!! She added that as long as he's not running a high fever and is *feeling* well enough to go to school, there's no harm in him going since the other kids have already been exposed to the germs anyway.

now, maybe she said that to get more patients in that week? LMAO!! I joke, I joke ...

anyway.. hope your little one feels better soon too :flowerforyou:

Just touching base. Hope all had a good Tuesday!
I got in exercise and got shopping and chores today, which was good. and i'm doing really well with my exercise.
BUT my eating still stinks! i'm trying to stay at 1400-1500 calories/day regardless of exercise. try that out for a month. but i still go over all the time--and not by eating apples, carrots, cucumbers, etc!
i'm not gonna go on and on, we all know what we have to do. just frustrated with myself on this point. :grumble:

i have made significant improvements overall, tho, and i can recognize that. i've increased my water intake, my cardio endurance is much better, i exercise consistently, teeny tiny bit stronger, have lost some inches and could fit into smaller shorts and pants. So i know i'm doing some things right. What's funny is that calories are what really matter and that's the one area i can't keep under control. :ohwell:
but when i look at the above, i can see that many habits have taken hold. it's just gonna be longer till i commit (heart and mind) to the rest of the program.

well, thanks for letting me write my book. it was helpful to me (tho tedious to you!).

have a great night folks!

Yeah, I'm so excited. It's my neighbor's 1st winter here in Alaska and she told me she really got depressed during the "darkness." I think exercising was a bit of a release in that department for me. I did notice that I'm all happy about how warm it is and it's like 45 degrees! Now I'm a Texas girl so 45 back home and I was freezing to death. But here...I'm like boys get your hoodies were going out to play!

Hey, just checkin in. Thanks for the welcome back. ;)

Well, I haven't gained, but I haven't lost. I've been stuck for quite some time now. I know it has to do with the food I eat, but my schedule has just been so crazy lately that it's been SO hard to make right choices. On top of that, I'm sick, lost my voice (and have to teach little kids all morning), and my first PP AF came today--of all days right? Hoping that some of my weight is bloat.

The studio that I just got hired for is starting in 2 weeks, so I'll be dancing a lot again--hoping that will quickly shed those extra pounds. I feel a bit bad being an out of shape dance teacher. ;) I can still do the moves, and I have the endurance, but my body doesn't look like it. I actually think I'm pretty fit as far as strength/endurance goes, but my body is definately out of shape. Gotta figure out something for that. Anyone in the same boat?
  • Happy Wednesday... it is Wed. right? Daughter is still sick, which really sucks cause her school is doing the annual testing and she's gonna have to make it all back up (not testing she can do at home). But I can't send her with a 100+ fever! Oh well... it'll all work out.

So I got into an argument with the hubby last night... main issue... he doesn't help me around the house AT ALL (even when he sees I'm struggling with my back pain), and he's a "right fighter" he's ALWAYS right. No matter what. Gets under my skin and irritates me to no end!! :explode: I'm not one to air my dirty laundry to strangers LOL but figure this is a "SAHM/D" topic and someone here might have the same issues in their marriage.

Then, after the argument, what do I do? Grab chocolate and make some drinks. ugh. :ohwell: Glad he had to work today or it would be tense around the house... this way I'll have time to cool off before he gets home LOL

thanks! i kept her home till 11 and then since she was well enuf to bug her brother  i took her to school. she's still congested etc, but basically fine. so thanks for the advice.

i think it's time for hubby to change the air filters tho.
  • I'd send my daughter but every time she gets a little active the fever comes back full force. And there's no way she can concentrate on the testing they are doing. It's wierd though.. no other symptoms... just fever.

first of all you look great! secondly, you are cruisin' on down the scale. and thirdly, your baby isn't even a year old--it takes awhile to get the wt gone and even then your body will maybe be a diff shape. my body recovered after baby 1, baby 2 left me w/these extra pounds, and baby 3 re-shaped my belly completely--for the first time i have a true spare tire.
so, for you--just keep moving and eating right and you'll get there. i would think dancing wd help espec as it does all over cardio + strength and lengthening.
as far as the "out of shape" teacher--they come to you to learn. and the little ones are just so excited to be there, you could have 2 heads for all they care!
so enjoy your new work and all that your body can do right now!

    gotta go!
  • Hi all, I am a SAHM of 2 boys almost 5 and a 2 year old. I usually read your post every and you all very supportive.
I have been doing really well with my diet and exercising since Jan. 09 until a couple days ago I realized that something just isn't right.
I went to the Dr. and figured out I have an arrhythmia (Tachycardia) and was put on a pill to regulate my hr until I see a specialist in June.
Yesterday was my first day on the new med and felt really good I could actually do what I normally did at the gym and not feel faint.
well thanks for letting me chime in.

Stacey--thanks for the encouragement. I guess I just gotta start realizing that it's okay for my body to look different. Sad thing is, I've lost the pg weight. I just always had the other 25 to lose as well. Hoping this job kicks my butt into gear. ;)

Stimpy--welcome to posting...post more...we'll get to know you (as you know, I'm new to posting too, but these ladies are incredible!)

I missed this post earlier, but I'd like to tell you something  When I used to go to the gym, I did a lot of step aerobics. I was in the best shape of my life (this was 12-13 years ago, pre-kids). We had one instructor that was definitely overweight, but let me tell you, that woman ROCKED it. She pushed us so much harder than any of the other "fit" instructors and I found myself scheduling my work outs so that I could attend her class rather than anyone else's. So don't feel uneasy about it. We're all made differently and just because we have love handles doesn't mean we are lazy

Hi Stimpy, I'm new to this thread too  I'm glad that your doctor has caught what's going on with you and can hopefully help you. That's great that the meds have already made a difference for you!! :flowerforyou:

Thats so funny stacey you are exactly right my firend keep phoning any news on the pups yet I am going insane I just want this sooooo bad it hurts. This is my dream dog and it is going to be so well behaved and do everything I tell it too. Yeah right I can see that happening I have been told that it must sleep outside as it is much better for their coats but omg its going to brfeak my heart when the time comes to lock it in the utility room everynight while my other 2 dogs come upstairs to sleep at my feet.

I am going insane 2 years I have been on waiting lists I am surprised I havent gone loopy before now. At least exercising keeps me busy when I am not doing that I am planning our trip to disney in insane amount of detail.

Has anyone read marley and me I cried it was heartbreaking to read I had to put the book down I got myself so upset it resurfaces my grief from having my dog put down last aug.

Welcome Stimpy--glad you found us. This is a great group of women and as Marla said last week (i'm sure she'll chime in again soon), the "members" ebb and flow. Some of us are very chatty (b/c we--i mean I--avoid taking care of the kids at that moment  ) and some post here and there now and then.
    So, welcome to the group!
I'm glad you saw the doc rt away. Is there any way you could get into the specialist in May? June's kinda far off. And are you allowed to resume your normal exercise? I know nothing about this disorder but I would hate for anything BAD to happen, kwim.
    Be well. Be safe--

    heather---HUGS
i just read an article sorta about this. hubby compulsive neat freak and wife is a good enuf kinda cleaner. basically, they were to try to understand each other's expectations better and be sure to keep the snide comments and sarcasm out of it. also, maybe to agree on one area (or more) that's always clean (y'know like the living room or mstr bedrm).

my husband helps a lot, so i can't complain abt that. but i do know that he prefers i just give him a list of things to be done with a final (reasonable) deadline and then he'll do it when he wants. that's helped a lot. my list, our timetable.

another idea is to do it as a family thing: everyone picks out the chore for the week (from a jar, from a rotating plate thing, from "chore dice", or based on interest and skill). if it's only for a week, he may be more willing to step in knowing that EVERYONE is counting on him to get his ONE thing done that whole week. Plus, everyone else is doing their share too. (the commune model)

I hope these ideas are useful. And i hope dd feels all better soon. that stinks abt missing the testing, tho. what a pain!

ps--you're not alone with hubby fights. i can't begin to tell you how often jeff and i fight (b/c we're both controlling among other things). you've been together awhile and sometimes things are just ENUF. i can relate and empathize. more HUGS
  • Thanks Stacey... yeah, you're right. It seems the longer we're married the more we get along overall but when we fight... wowee LOL!!! It's like all the buildup comes out at once. We seriously only fight twice a year anymore... that's it... so when we do, it really hurts my feelings. :ohwell:

Something I always have to remind him of is that I know he's a wonderful provider, I do appreciate that he works long hours, etc. BUT if I were working full time, nothing around here would ever get done LOL. Would be nice if he could see it from my side once in a while, instead of his always seeing only his effort. We've tried making chore lists, etc, and while they may work a week or two (if that), we always fall back into the same pattern of me doing 90%, kids doing 5%, leaving 5% that just doesn't get done  One of our issues, in this fight was that I had taken down Easter deco the day after Easter. All in a box, sealed & ready to be put in storage. Problem is, I can't carry it because of my back. If I could, I would! Well the box sat there, on the kitchen table, until we fought last night. LMAO. Seriously? That's just ridiculous.

Anyway, like I said earlier, I'm glad he worked today so that I could cool off... I'm feeling much better now and hope that he'll want to sit down and talk to me tonight (no yelling)

the book is nice a nice read until you get to the bit where he gets old I cant believe how much it got to me I suppose it shows I am not over my little girly passing from last year I still get teary when I talk about her. I will finish the book but it is sad but not in a nasty way.

vicky, i know what you mean. for some people it may even be cathartic. for me, it's still too raw even tho milo died 2 years ago. i still remember that last day. and i still remember him--walking with him, his breathing and stretching in his crate next to my bed, how he curled up in my legs when i would nap (pg with baby #1). he was really my first baby. and i miss him terribly. so i can't torture myself with a book like that, bittersweet as it is.:brokenheart:

can you tell i want another dog?we keep waiting--partly for baby 3 to get older and therefore less of a handful or even danger to the puppy. i know we could get a 1 or 2 year old, but but but
also, b/c we want to move back to salt lake and think it will be easier (ie, less hassle) to sell and move w/o dog. plus if we have to rent first in salt lake city, then having no dog will make that easier too. all rational, logical reasons.

doesn't eliminate the heartache. i'm sure you know what i mean.

now on to more pleasant tasks--packing lunch and getting ready to go to the gym. yay
