thanksgiving..i just wanna know...
are you still going to track your cals, and still try yo limit your intake, or are you gunna let loose and eat what you want ( either still tracking or not ) im kinda on the fence about it..this time every year, i start to crave turkey, and could eat a ton of it, and i know i day of splurging wont hurt, but i hate to backtrack on my progress..im not asking for advice, just wanting to know how you plan to handle it..what is on your thanksgiving menus ??

I'll probably track it, and maybe not put everything down, cuz I know I'll go over and that bums me out in general........but I do plan to eat the things I like and not worry about it!0

I plan to eat the things I like in moderation. I did this on Easter and it worked out just fine. That said, if you are going to go nuts on one thing, let it be turkey since it is good protein and low cal!0
-
*sigh* im going to enjoy the day without concern because, after all, it is part of life.0

Still keep track. You can splurge and go over if you want, but still keep track, so you'll be mindful of what you are putting in your mouth. I know it can be hard to guess, but try. And one day won't hurt you. A pound of fat is approximately 3500 calories. You'd have to eat A LOT to undo what you've done.0

I've found that I get more bummed when I don't track and go over than when I do track and go over. (if that makes sense) So I will be tracking! I'm running an 8K that morning so I'll have like 500 extra calories... I think I might try to stay at my calorie goal for the day! But if I go over it won't be the end of the world. I'm going to stay away from "boring" food like the crescent rolls and roll-out cookies that my mom makes for every holiday. And we are going to have shrimp cocktail for lunch so that will be pretty healthy! I'm pumped for turkey day!0

I am going to eat it all! I will not stuff myself beyond the point of fullness as I would normally do, but I will not limit myself to only certain foods.. I am cooking Thanksgiving this year and I plan to eat everything I make! I am not going to log that day, I'm just going to enjoy the wonderful day with my family.
Nothing you decide to do is wrong. If you want to log it, log it. If not, then don't. Portion yourself or go crazy on food, it's up to you. Thanksgiving comes once a year, and in the grand scheme of things, that ONE day is not going to make a difference, as long as you continue on with healthier habits. One day is not going to make or break you, trust me.0 -
I'm gonna watch and track! I worked to hard for this to backtrack even if its only 1 day!!! I will also exercise extra so I can eat my calories on Thanksgiving! Food no longer has the power over me...best wishes!! :drinker:0
-
I'll eat what I want, within reason but I wont log it for that day. Wine will be my only over the top fun that day.0
-
No. It's just one day, I'm going to enjoy it and not worry...0

I'm tracking every single bite, and I KNOW I'm going over.0

Feasting like a little piggy! Had gallbladder surgery last year the day before Thanksgiving..didn't get to eat anything. This year I'm going to chow down and NOT log a darn thing!0
-
we had our family Thanksgiving on Saturday. I recorded everything I ate and drank that day, as per usual. I don't really overindulge to begin with, so it worked out fine for me.0
-
I would like to track it just for Sh*** and Grins, but no, I got better things to do like spend time with fam, football, etc. I made a committment to drink no beer this Thanksgiving.0
-
Nope. Ignoring MFP from Wednesday Night until the following Monday.0

I'm going to see if I can gain all my weight back.0

I'm actually going to stay under my calorie goal. Just something I'm challenging myself to do. But to each his own.0

Thanksgiving = no holds barred for me. I will eat what I want all day, and I will not log it or even mentally add up calories. I bust my butt all year to be able to enjoy the holidays without wanting to kill myself.
I will, however, get in an extra workout on Thursday morning. It's not so much to free up some calories for Thanksgiving; it's really just because I added to my kettlebell collection, and I figure that's a good day to play around with the some double KB drills.0 -
wow this is hard for me ive been doing this for 5 months and have been under my calorie goal each of those day. im just afraid that i might undo all my hard work. i know in my mind one day isnt going to put back on 42 pounds . just feel like if i dont track and stay under then i would be cheating myself. if this makes any sense. i do plan on eating anything i want. maybe just pass on the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes that i have on a regular basis. i think i will just double up on exercise in the morning and then practice moderation..
good luck to all0 -
I'll still *try* to tack everything just to know where I am and whether I should get on the scale in the morning or not!! But it's really hard to track everything precisely since I'm going over to someone else's house and will only be doing a tiny bit of the cooking so I'm not gonna worry too much about the calories since I know it won't be accurate. But it's still nice to have a very rough estimate to keep you in check. Good luck!0

No! It's one day and it's not going to destroy progress.
I'm also not going to just eat everything in sight but I will eat what I want without being a piggy for no reason.
No point in trying to track the calories unless you are the one making every single dish and even then it'll be headache to input it all into the system..but to each their own.
My birthday is also the day before thanksgiving so oh well0 -
Probably won't log Thursday but I will still be very careful of carbs/sugar intake as diabetes knows no holiday.0
-
I plan on logging it beforehand, just to get an idea of how much I'm eating and how many calories it's going to be. Since I'm cooking a full Tday meal for just me and my kids, I may actually choose to not make some dishes if they're too unhealthy, or make an alternative.
While the Thanksgiving meal is nice and all, it's really no reason to back out on whatever healthy living commitment you've made for yourself. I'm looking at it as an opportunity to learn new and healthier recipes.
If it were like any other unhealthy eating days I've had, overeating at all will only make me feel worse.0 -
I will eat in moderation, but I am not going to log since i know I will be over from Thursday - Saturday going to all the family dinners. I will however, continue to workout to help offset the extra calories.0

Hitting the gym for about 3 hrs, then gonna eat whatever I want but still gonna track it. Thanksgiving is my fav holiday and I make a FEAST so I'm going to enjoy it to the max!0
-
I dont think I will be logging in the food unless its easy dishes that I can easily find on the MFP App thru my phone. I know I will be going over but Its just one day.0

I cycle calories but normally eat about 1416 a day on avg. I am eating at 1235 all week and banking those extra calories for thanksgiving so by the end of the week I will still be at my goal calorie level.0
