I'm SO EFFIN TIRED I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!! I want to scream and throw something and cry, then pass out asleep.

Yup.I hear you. And I don't have any kids, bed partner (on week nights), pets or stressful job to blame. I have 2 jobs to blame, colleagues who insist on winding me up, bizarre and reoccuring dreams and a brain that is just not quite right to blame.
I would kill for an induced coma - oh the irony.0 -
I'm right behind you in those feelings. Insomnia bites! Not even Tylenol PM helped last night. AARGH!0

Sleep and I have a strained relationship. I stay up too late, I wake up too early, I cant stay asleep once I fall asleep. Children wake me up, dogs wake me up...
I'm learning to adapt.0 -
I don't sleep well either. It is exhausting. My mind is constantly turning which is great during the day when I am trying to accomplish great things but for crying out loud, it is annoying to say the least when trying to fall asleep. Every little noise, particularly when the husband gets cranked up with the snoring or our neighborhood pooches start howling just grates on my nerves too. If a good nights sleep is essential to weight loss, I am screwed:grumble:0

Yep that's me. I have sleep apnea and take Ambien CR every nite. For some reason before I was dieting I could sleep 10 or more hours a night. Now I am lucky to get 5. And the problem I have is that just leaves me more hours in the day to have to spread my allotted food out over more hours. Ughhhhh!0

I have a hard time sleeping without Benadryl. But on the bright side, I don't wake up with a stuffy nose, either, so it serves a dual purpose.0

Sometimes I take tylenol pm and nyquil and that usually knocks me out for the whole nite, its probably not recommended though. Lol0

Haven't had a good night's sleep in almost three weeks... I feel like I'm going crazy! I wake up almost every hour and have to toss and turn to fall back asleep. I haven't been able to sleep past 6 AM either. Ugh.0

I don't have trouble falling asleep, my problem is staying asleep. I'm up very early, despite being retired and not having a job to go to anymore. However, since I am eating healthier and getting more exercise, things have somewhat improved. I also take melatonin at night, which seems to help.0

The worst part of it is having to pick myself up and go work and go about my day pretending like I"m not completely miserable and ready to drop over. And it puts me in a horrible mood. I am a happy person and it's making me not feel like myself.
Just want to stay in bed all day. Seriously.
Getting treated for apnea-dental device on it's way. But in the mean time, let's hope I can keep it together.

I actually was diagnosed narcoleptic which I know most think its where you get to sleep all the time and at night. Well that is incorrect actually. We are sleepy because we never enjoy stage 4 sleep. During my sleep study I showed going from awake to REM in 4 minutes flat. Awesome? Not really because for the next 6.5 hours I was in REM and you live and breath your dreams and never actually fall completely asleep. So the remedy to this after 15 years of speed to stay awake all day. I am now taking XYREM its a sister drug of GHB that I take twice a night and it is AMAZING!! =0) Ask your doctors about it they may be able to prescribe it since its a schedule one and highly controlled. It also can be quite expensive so check on that first also.0

I haven't had a full night's sleep in about eight years now. Sleep problems started in college and I've tried everything. Drugs don't work, they just make me feel even worse in the morning. It's not fun, but makeup covers the dark circles and I'm good at pretending everything is fine :flowerforyou:0

Please don't take these together. Both contain acetaminophen, and it doesn't take much over the recommended amount to cause liver damage.0 -

Look into the one I posted about the only reason I take it is because it was at one point a natural product sold at health food stores. No drug feeling or crazy nightmares just beautiful sleep every night now. They finally controlled it when it became the date rape drug and people were finding out its toxicity with alcohol.0 -
I am also sorry to hear so many others are dealing with this too. Lack of sleep will wreck your life!
I'm sorry, I don't mean to put out a downer post, just feeling very frustrated and not sure where to vent it. At least until I get myself to the gym at lunch. That does help temporarily0 -
I've been having sleep problems for a very long time -- about ten years. I would wake up seven, eight times a night, having to go to the bathroom.
I finally went to a pulmonary specialist and sleep doctor -- had the sleep study done. Turns out I had severe sleep apnea because of a combination of my weight and narrow air passages.
A normal person should be getting 90% (or more) oxygen while they sleep -- I was getting between 15% - 20%.
I'm now on a CPAP machine and have been for over a year now. It's the best thing I could've ever done. My quality of life has improved and I know I couldn't have lost the weight without it.0 -
The other thing that sleeping wrong makes very difficult is losing weight. Literally when I started sleeping at night I lost 20 pounds in the first month from you body actually functioning correctly.0

I had insomnia for over 10 years, and then a month ago we had an 8-day power outage. It 'reset' my clock, and I now go to bed around 10 pm, and go right to sleep without hours of anxious worry.
For the time we were without electricity, we would light a tiny ring of candles when it got dark in the early evening, and talk a bit, but eventually with no TV, internet, or proper light to read, study, etc., we would all go to bed before 8 pm. The cold would keep us in bed for 12 hours (got down to 40 degrees F). At the time, I thought the boredom (and cold) would kill us!
Extreme duress led to this welcome outcome. I don't think I would have been able to do this otherwise. I think the amount of artificial light that hits your eyes in these modern times can lead to insomnia in vulnerable people. I would research how best to reset your circadian rhythm, and see what might be practical in your life.0 -
I *used to* but here's the relief I found- *perhaps* it might help you?
First off, I found some dark eye shades and ear plugs ( look for the ones that are foam- they're more comfortable in your ears at night)
I also use OTC melatonin- only need 1 mg, 2 at the most....
take it about 1 hour before you plan to go to bed.
*Melatonin* is the hormone your body produces to induce sleep
And, if you consume caffeine ( be aware it's not just in coffee)....
try to avoid it after 5 or 6 pm.

I know! My sleep specialist said it's incredible I've been able to lose weight like I have because of the sleep deprivation. I told him it's a combination of starbucks and sheer stubborness that keeps me going I can just imagine how awesome I'll do if I ever get back to sleeping well. I get virtually no REM sleep, like others have said. Tried CPAP, didn't work out for me. Gave it a good shot but too difficult to tolerate.0 -
Dont eat soon before you go to bed and try doing something relaxing like taking a bath or listening to music.0

I only sleep 2 to 4 hours a day even went to the doc and got tested found out that I quit breathing 57 time an hour so they tried me on thoses breathing machines and I still quit breathing but not as bad but got less sleep so I quit useing it sorry this is one area I cant help you get anymore sleep never found away for me too. Just like last night I only slept for hour and a half.0

Disordered sleeping pattern- disordered eating pattern. My only tip , as an insomnia sufferer for 30 years, is reading .Medication may make you sleep but it's not a relaxing sleep and I've always woken up feeling shattered:yawn:0

Its actually only Kate who wakes me up, its because she needs to pee, for some reason the others can handle going through the night. Sometimes they yell out because they kicked the covers off or lost their snuggly toy but I can usually handle that without actually having to be awake. Its kind of robot mentality at that point.0 -
