Some thoughts on diet soda?

Everything we eat is made of chemicals.

I drink diet sodas in moderation. I like to have a soda with pizza or popcorn and I'd rather drink a Cherry Coke Zero rather than a high cal regular Coke or plain water.

If you like the sodas, drink them. Just try to be aware of how you react to them and note if they seem to be triggering cravings.

Its a great alternative to full fat soda... if you're gonna drink that you;re better off drinking the diet stuff... Offset the so-called carcinogen aspartme with eating loads of healthy stuff... besides... I personally don't think its a great issue so long as you;re not guzzling litres of the stuff each week/day!

Tea/Coffee/Soda/Diet soda/Milk/juice etc all count towards your daily fluid intake, The caffeine effect is far, far outweighed by the actual water in the drink.

As for coffee being a diuretic, so many people just spout that word as a reason, without actually understanding what "diuretic" means.

Neat water is also a diuretic. The diuretic effect of caffeine is far, far outweighed by the actual water in the tea/coffee. Also, regular consumers of caffeinated beverages will build up a tolerance to said effect, eventually reaching the point where caffeinated drinks provide practically the same amount of hydration as a cup of neat water will.

Drink it if you must, just be smart with it.

It's a treat, for me...just like peanut m&m's! I have trained my body to crave water rather than soda; however when it is hot outside there is something about that large Sonic 1/2 price drink of coke zero w/ a wedge of lime!

I'm so glad that someone posted this!!! i'm so sick of people saying 'you have to drink a cup of water to compensate every cup of coffee you drink' it is a really popular misconception though!

Drink them every once in a while. I would not do everyday, but if you really need a soda with a certain food you are eating. Ex. Fish is not good with water so I drink a pepsi maxx. Awesome dude!!!!!!!!!!!!
