I am diabetic and I really need some fresh ideas for breakfasts that won't spike my blood sugars so high.. I had Kelloggs Fiber Plus Cereal and an hour later and after 20 minutes of aerobics.. my blood sugar was 185.. ( forgot to check it before eating)That is NOT good.. So I think cereal is pretty much out.. Shame, because that had 9 fiber in it.. Really need some ideas...Thanks in advance

Have you tried steel cut oats? or you can always stick to no carb options like scrambled eggs and veggies.

i actually have an etsy shop for baked goods and i make a bunch of healthy muffins and protein bars made with all natural ingredients! they have tons of fiber and protein and make a wonderful breakfast or snack! theyre made with whole wheat flour, no oils, and everything is chemical-free! they are totally sugar-free, i use splenda instead.

Yep, I eat all of these...maybe an add would be whole grain toast with almond butter. my normal staple is a bowl of unflavored oats, i dump some cinnamon in there (that helps regulate sugars as well) . I also do a shake with a low gyclemic index on occasion.
  • I too am a diabetic. I love love love the Atkins Daybreak strawberry banana shakes. They are really delicious and have worked wonders for me. I have them every morning with my coffee and eat the Atkins bars for lunch a lot. I am not on the Atkins diet nor would I ever be, but I love being able to eat these for breakfast and lunch and then getting to eat a good sized meal for dinner (since that's why I am most hungry).

Eggs (whole or whites), maybe some cheese, bacon (pork or turkey), and a slice of whole grain toast.

I eat eggs and or egg whites, lots of veggies in it, some cheese and bacon or sausage (turkey is good too). Just started using Ezekial 4:9 bread. It's pretty good - great for diabetes, there are cheaper recipes for it online - otherwise it's about $5 per loaf. Just stick with high fiber low carb, see what that does. I also like steel cut oats.
