I'm new to this as well. That's roughly my goal. I'm 48 and weigh 245, I'd love to be down to 190 by the end of April.
So does resistance training not count against your daily calories allowed? The diary seems to only count cardio.

You can log it as "circuit training" but it's better to get a HRM. In order to reach your goal you'll need to log your calories carefully.0

under cardio you can search for what type of resistance training you are doing. it would be better to get a hrm to know for sure but mfp will give you a general number for the burned cals0

Welcome! That's approximately my goal, too, except I'm expanding mine until June rather than April. I've already lost a bit and so my weight loss has slowed down.
As far as resistance training goes, I don't know how to answer that!0 -
