Exercise with a bad knee? what do you do?

so today I blew my knee out hiking, totally popped loud and now I have pain running up my leg to my sciatic kinda... but more towards my hip... and down towards my ankle.
I do not want to just sit here and be an invalid for the next couple of weeks so I am wondering what kinds of exercises I can do?
What about water aerobics?

okay, first, go to the doctor! It could be very serious. Why you are waiting for it to recover, very light water exercise is good, along with any non weight bearing activities
I injured my knee multiple times and avoided going to a doctor and then one day it completely gave out on me which led to a very serious surgery and possibly a second surgery as well. go to the doctor!!

See your dr first & ask him/her about water aerobics. You don't want to damage your knee so bad you won't be able to do anything for a long time. You may just need rest & ice, but I'm no dr so get proper care first.0 -
I had knee problems earlier in the year and went to a physiotherapist who showed me how to strap it up and said I could keep running.
It's best to see a professional to work out exactly what the problem is, then you will know how to treat it and what exercise will be best.0
