Tea in the Evening?

This week I started drinking a cup of hot Earl Gray tea (without sugar or caff.) after dinner everynight. I usually crave sweets, and I was hoping this may curb that craving. So far...so good. It has not only helped me from indulging, I have noticed a major difference in my tummy. My pants are fitting a lot more comfortably, and I really feel "less bloated".

Do any of you drink hot tea in the evening? If so, what do you drink? Are you seeing a difference. Just curious. Looking for ideas of what type to buy next!

Have a great day!!!

I do drink tea every night, but I don't attribute that alone to changes in the way my pants fit. Substituting tea for dessert would do that, but not the tea itself. While I do think tea has some awesome healthy properties, in and of itself it won't make your tummy shrink.

I looove Yogi Vanilla Tahitian Hazelnut, though! It's my new fav. And tropical green teas, mmmm. Lately, I've been having a warm cup of almond milk with cinnamon before bed when I want something creamier. :)

I don't do it every night, but I do like a cup of hot tea every once in a while. It definitely helps with cravings.

I like peppermint (just buy loose peppermint in the bulk aisle and get an infuser) a lot. I also have a homemade chai "latte" nearly every morning. I just like to experiment with lots of different flavors, especially loose-leaf. World Market has a chocolate matte that I LOVE. Also a chocolate jasmine flavor.

There's a little store at a local artists' co-op here that has some great loose-leafs: raspberry cream, chocolate-strawberry and several other really cool flavors. And you can't beat good ol' chammomile, especially in the evening.

I say try a few that sound interesting and see what you like best.

I drink a lot of tea. I drink it a little bit after dinner when I would be wanting a snack and I agree it really helps with those cravings! I LOVE green tea (they make that in decaf too). I do see a difference with bloating and such when I don't drink it.

Love earl gray with a slice of lemon. It is relaxing and warms and fills you up. I also like green and black tea, and white tea or sleepy time evening :drinker:
  • i've become a tea addict. i drink a lot of fruit tea, most of it celestial seasonings brand. it's sugar and calorie free and tastes AMAZING! my favorites are the blueberry, raspberry zinger, black cherry berry, and pomegranate. the mango acai is awesome, too. don't get me wrong, though, i enjoy a nice green/black/peppermint tea as well.

It can reduce bloating, which is only water weight, but will make the tummy shrink and the clothing fit better. Just sayin'.

I typically go for herbals or decaf green tea. My favorite herbals are
*roobios with a little stevia and 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk--very chai-like for only 9 calories!
    * camomile
    * peppermint
*Twinings' citrus & spices (again, with a little stevia & almond milk)

I've been doing this, too. I am a huge fan of peppermint tea, which is soothing to the stomach.

I also bought a box of different flavored berry teas which so far aren't great, and some chamomile, which I like.

It definately helps me to not binge at night because I don't like to eat while I drink tea. But I don't think there's any magic weight loss happening due to the new habit.

I drink lots of tea (all day long). At night I like Stash Cinnamon Vanilla and Christmas Eve (both herbal & new for Christmas). Red teas have no caffiene. Celestial Seasonings African Orange Mango is yummy.

Also, I like Chai with skim milk & honey. If you've never tried chai - a good "beginner" chai is Twinings French Vanilla or Bigelow Vanilla - these are not too strong. If you like chocolate - I recommend Yogi Mayan Cocoa Spice (again with milk & honey).

I started having issues with cow's milk and started making my chai with soy milk. I actually find it tastes better with the soy over "real" milk.

    I like the Tazo chai.

I just started drinking tea this week instead of coffee because 1- i don't have to use sugar, 2- i don't have to use creamer 3-study shows that people who drink a cup of green tea a day lose about 2 pounds a year. not that much, but in the long run, it's better for us. saves us calories!

I do and love it. I used to have a snack or binge when I got home from work and now I have some tea instead. I usually use Celestial or Twining. I can definitely see a difference with how I feel. It seems to keep my hydrated overnight as well so I don't wake up feeling bloated.

I like to have something different. If you want some good gourmet teas for not so much $$$, go to http://www.octaviatea.com/ . I basically have tried most of the teas there. Basically all the oolongs are great for lunch/dinner. I like the red-decaf teas for evening

Drinking a cup right now, actually. Just picked up a new kind called Winter Spice... not too bad.
  • Thanks for the great Ideas. I just started yesterday and I drank tea just before bed. I slept like a baby.

I am drinking Green Tea with lemon right now. Green Tea or Hibiscus Tea with 1/4 slice lemon is my fav, I drink it without sugar too, and it's incredibly healthy for you, open the link below to see the amazing benefits of drinking green tea with lemon, hibiscus tea and white tea are also really good for you just like green tea with many similar benefits. The lemon makes the tea 12x more effective health wise because it brings out the compounds in the tea :)

I drink celestial seasonings every night :) they do have a lot of yummy flavors!

I drink my green tea/black tea in the morning/afternoon... caffeine never really used to effect me but in the last few months I think it's been the reason I hadn't been sleeping thru the night so I swapped to caffeine free at night time hehe

I drink tea all day long.
Start with "Rooibos" or green tea in am,
Have black tea during the day -mild caffeine.
Move on to ginger- lemon for a pick me up in the afternoon.
After dinner Chai feels like a dessert.

Liquorice tea is sweet tasting with no added sugar, if you feel that way inclined. I steep it from liquorice root from the organic shop.
    The variety is endless!
