Wal-Mart Health Persecution :)

Wow, you should definitely tell a manager. He is a *customer service* rep. He gets paid to check you out!0
-
What do you expect..its Walmart! I boycotted that store 15 years ago..0
-
This is one reason I boycott WalMart...asside from numerous bad business practices and failing to follow all human rights laws....they also treat their employees like crap. Sadly if you have a job that treats you like crap chances are you spread that attitude to others. Def call and complain!0
-
STAND UP for yourself. 99% of Americans support the factory farm industry. That industry is falling apart. Look at McDonald's dropping their egg producer that was torturing chickens. I'm not the 99% and I never will be. Even if you buy DOLE for fruit you are supporting factory farming.0
-
Now THAT is something that I would do!! LOL (I've never in my life, that I can remember, had a clerk be rude to me but I'm sure that my time is coming.)
Don't go out much do ya? Totally kidding but the clerks are very rude at places like Stop & Shop and Walmarts that are not in Maine or somewhere people are happy to have a job.0 -
You need to find another source of produce. It has been my experience that Wal-marts have the worst produce selection of any grocery store I've ever shopped at. You also need to find another store where the cashiers don't curse you out but that's obvious!0
-
I've actually run into this a few times...thats why I shop at Aldi now, I can get my fruits and veggies in bulk instead of by the pound, which makes a cheaper shopping trip for me and happier cashiers because they dont have so many numbers to punch in! I probably would have thrown a tomato at the guy so kudos to you for staying calm!!!0
-
It's Walmart! That's all that needs to be said. I would find a farmers market to buy produce (it's probably cheaper than walmart anyway)0
-
OMG - this whole Walmart thing must be contagious!!!!!! Perhaps your cashier and the one I had last night are related!!!!?????
I had to hit Walmart last night - picked up some veggies and herbs that were on sale... got to the register and the guy got all huffy-puffy - aka he had to look up SKU codes because the stickers with the codes were all washed up from being water-sprayed.... I asked him if there was a problem. The guy had the BALLS to tell me "I dont have time to be looking all of these up"...
The customer behind me had the biggest gulp of air let out... he wasnt thrilled because he too, had fresh produce as well and started to put his stuff back in the cart and left the line....
...then the cashier said under his breathe "thank god"...
THATS IT... I looked at the cashier and was point blank with him "I dont know what your problem is but THIS IS YOUR JOB. By purchasing things IN YOUR STORE, this is paying YOUR PAYCHECK. If you dont want to be here, GO HOME but DONT give me grief about having to ring in items that you cant tell what they are - you owe an apology to the guy that left your line AND you owe ME an apology! If you cant tell what the food item is, ASK ME, but dont treat people like GARBAGE because you actually have to look things up"...
"How do I know youre gonna tell me the truth and not give me a bogus answer?"
The manager heard the cashier as he walked up and relieved him of ringing in my items.... the customer that left the line let the manager know the cashier was being an *kitten* and he came right over to assist.
The manager replied "Id be willing to bet she could tell you exactly what her items are" Cubanelles, Serranos, Poblanos, flat-leaf parsley, curly parsley, red bell peppers, heirloom farmer tomatoes, and haricot verts are the items I purchased!!!
The cashier stood there dumbfounded - the manager gave me a HUGE discount for my purchase for the aggravation and said "this customer is the daughter of one of my third-shift department heads, she isnt going to give you any bogus answer.... Ill take care of her purchases here and then you and I can chat."
They might have a crappy paying job doing cashier work at a Walmart but there are TONS of people who would be thankful to have that job where they have been unemployed for several months to a year....0 -
I've had cashiers comment on my choices before but they weren't rude about it. Calling you that just isn't right, now I understand why your sister was so furious about it. I'd definitely report that.0
-
You can call me almost anything except a bi^ch! That sets me off like nobody's business.
If he spoke to you like that I wonder how many children and senior citizens are treated with disrespect! Please, take your receipt with you and go to the store manager. There is absolutely no excuse for that type of behavior. I commend you for reacting like a total lady but how many other people heard his comments??? Not acceptable.0 -
It was just kinda disappointing because normally I have no problems at that Wal-Mart. We go there so much for teaching supplies and such that we are pretty much known in the store. I had one of the other associates stop me in the produce section last night and asked me how my classes were going and what not. She has figured out that I am a teacher. The greeters know my sister and I both and ask how we are doing and how our pets are and everything. It's a very genial store except for that associate. One of my best friends works at a different Wal-Mart and she was appaled when I told her. I know it was rude and all, but I don't know his backround or what is going on in his life (I know that is no excuse). I will be emailing the manager today concerning the issue, but I really hope he doesn't lose his job over it. I have dated guys that have called me worse so in a sad way I am kinda used to it. I just meant for this thread to kinda be a good laugh over people not understanding buying fresh produce. :bigsmile:0

If I had been there, and it was my wife, if I hear him say that, and calls her a b**ch, I'm leaning over the register and b**ch slapping his face. Then tell him he is now a b**ch.
I like the way you roll0 -
Lol. Wow. What a nice guy. Not.
You handled it well. I just may have said "you know what...I think I'll be leaving now WITHOUT all my gorceries and get my fruit and veggies elsewhere." Then left. Make him think twice before saying anything like THAT again.0 -
I'm on board with the people saying I would've called a manager. Then again, I've NEVER experienced anything resembling customer service at Walmart, so I would not have been surprised if complaining did nothing!
Either way, good on you for buying food that's good for you and sticking to your guns!0 -
During college, I worked retail part time.
It can fry your mind after some time.
I think the worst part of his comment was "normal people".
If you want to laugh check out the "People of Walmart website.

my d**** is the word for damn because I try my best not to swear and for me it is a swear word. He called me a female dog right after the first swear.
I would have definately complained about this, no matter what you were buying, or how bad a day he had been having, he had no right to call you that0 -

Somehow, I missed this. I absolutely agree! No matter how bad his day was, resorting to name calling is UNACCEPTABLE! I would not have left until that man was unemployed!0 -
if something like that had happened to me I would find that associate and use their till as often as possible
Passive Aggressive Revenge..... I LOVE IT!!! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!0 -
Silence is acceptance. I get the occassional "I'll let this one slide by," but when he was name calling - that's over the top.
I would have said something along the line of, "Gosh, must be nice to be in a position of not needing a job." Then I would have gone to Customer Service at Walmart. Is that an oxymoron?0 -
i work at walmart...and i would NEVER say that no matter how bad of a day i was having or if it was one in the morning. There is always going to be something that tries to bring us down, but u seem strong enough to blow it off GOOD JOB! Keep doing good and eating healthy!
p.s. please dont think all walmart cashiers are like that0 -

Maybe my sheer presence brings goodness out of people. ;P0 -
:noway: This is one of the many reasons we don't shop at Walmart anymore. I've had to put my foot in someone's *kitten* way too many times. If it had been me, I would have embarrassed the living crap out of him AND contacted management. My produce eating self wouldn't have left the store until he was unemployed.
And on a side note, Walmart really is the worst place to buy produce and most meat products.0 -
Hahaha, I worked as a Walmart cashier for four years and I'll tell you this: None of my coworkers would know what a fresh vegetable was if it went and bit them in the *kitten*. Regardless, treating a customer like this is completely unacceptable. If I overheard one of the other cashiers calling a customer a name, I would've stepped in. Ringing up fresh fruits and veggies was actually one of my favorite things to do, lol. After a while, you memorize all the numbers. But it doesn't take any time to ask the customer what something is if you don't know. BUT the best times are when you ask and the customer DOESN'T KNOW.
"Is this parsley or cilantro?"
"Uh... I dunno. Parsley?"
Really? Really?? Hahaha~0 -
i have to say as a cashier at walmart i take a lot of bull**** from people when i check them out. I would like to say i treat people the way they treat me, but i would be lying. I treat the rude customers just as nice and the respectful people. Why are we so rude at times and not say anything to customers at times? We never know how the next person is going to act. I try to greet my customers everyday and ask how they are doing... i mostly get ignored and sometimes a curse word for no reason. I blow it off.. but it does make me hesitate to talk to the next person in line. In this case he/she had no right to comment in that way. Attitude reflects leadership. I have seen a lot of management do and say things i would rather not repeat on here. Its best to blow it off. Sorry this happened to you. Hope next time is better!0

If it was CLEAR he wasn't kidding, I would have either said,
1) Thank you (name on tag) for the advice. I think I'll go let a manager know the advice you've given me and that I just may choose to take it!
*********************** OR *******************************
2) I am choosing not to report this incident to the manager today. Merry Christmas. Consider it my present to you. You only get one from me, (name on tag)!0 -
hmmm. This is where letting go of things is a big win. I really don't care what the cashier at walmart calls me or doesnt call me. I simply don't have the time or inclination to worry about small things like that. Running into one A-hole, rather it be in traffic or at walmart, is a blip on my radar and not worth the stress, aggravation, or time of ‘doing something about it’. As long as I don't have to wait in line for a gillion hours, the product was rung up quickly and correctly, and my bread didn’t get squished - I'm good.0
-
I'm big on calling people out so I would have stood right there and asked him to ring his manager pronto. I would then proceed telling the manager that this cashier was very rude and adamant about ringing up my purchases stating he didn't like ringing up produce. He then called me....what did you call me dear? (make him say it or if he denies it then I would continue my side) oh that's right, he called me a *****.
And then stand back and watch the fireworks!
I was a cashier in a grocery store and let me tell you....its not that hard to memorize the code numbers and its just as fast to ring something up vs complaining about it.
The nerve of some people.
Please do contact them. They should make it right and hopefully write this guy up or fire them.0 -

Well he did ring up 7 cucumbers instead of 1 and I had to wait for him to fix it. :laugh:0
