I am TERRIBLE at math (like 2+2=7 bad) and I need help figuring out how many ounces my steak is for dinner tonight so I can log it  Any help would be MUCH MUCH appreciated!!

2 steaks= .79 lb, one is mine, how many oz is that and how do you figure it?

(Note To Self: Dear Self, Invest in a small kitchen scale next time I'm at Walmart. Love, Self.)

How much did you pay for the 2 steaks? Are they about the same size?

DOH - never mind, I was reading that as $.79...

    .395 ounces

How did you calculate that? LOL i can't figure out the formula!!
  • sorry, wrong, about 12 ounces, there's 16 ounces in a pound so divide that by 2 and you get about 6.32 ounces so it's a little less than 6.32 ounces.
  • Hi! Each steak if they are about the same size are approx. 6.3 oz.

There are 16 oz. in a pound, so you multiply .79 by 16, then divide by 2 steaks=6.32.
It's like saying they weigh 79% of a pound. Which is 12.64 oz. of the 16 total ounces in a pound.
Then divide by two servings, you get about 6 oz.

    Enjoy Dinner!

    Hope that helps :)

    Hi Kaitie, maybe this helps:

    Go to Google and type:

    .79 lb to oz

an google converts the quantities for you and answers: ".79 pounds = 12.64 ounces"

now you have the oz for both steaks, next you have to divide in 2:
so next you could also type

    12.64 / 2

and the anwer is (just as snugglybare said):

    12.64 / 2 = 6.32 (oz per steak)

Google has an integrated calculator and converter.
