I have been working diligently for the past 8 weeks and have consistently lost 1 pound a week. But I have to tell you....I am SICK of salads for lunch and fruit for snacks!!!

I get hungry and look at the fruit bowl and NOTHING appeals to me! I have really been stuggling for the past week or so. I am craving carbs., like pretzels and crackers. I stay within the serving size, but you sure don't get much for the calories they contain! Then I'm still hungry! I've gone over my calories for the past 2 days!

I don't know how to get myself out of this "funk"! HELP!!!

The only thing I can suggest is to change it up a little. Have a sandwich for lunch. Find some high fiber, lower calorie bread and go for it - or do Subway. Maybe instead of salad, have a chicken breast and some cooked veggies. Snacks - get a 100 calorie pack of something. Sometimes you just need to have something different. Do you let yourself have a cheat meal during the week? This might help curb some of the boredom with just the same old, same old. Check out some of the recipes under the recipe forum here. You might find something different that you could make. And good luck!!

No, I don't really have a cheat meal. I don't record my calories on Sunday's, but I still try to watch what I eat.

Yeah, I'm REALLY tired of the same old foods day after day. It's almost easier to eat nothing at all!

I don't mind salad every once in a while but mostly veggies are used just to beef up my normal meals I need to change up my foods a lot or I get bored. If you think of your calorie allotment for the day are you splitting them up to leave you enough for every meal. I am allowed 1300 cals a day breakfast n lunch both usually 200 calories and 500 for dinner that leaves 400 for snacks. So I usually eat a sandwich for lunch with light bread a lot of veggies and then I use a little turkey and maybe light cheese. My bkfst this morn was an english muffin with egg beaters light cheese and ketchup and lettuce. For snack I eat most anything I want but I make sure I portion it correctly if I am running low on calories that's when I eat sliced cucumbers or other veggies for snack

I noticed on last nights biggest loser they talked about how they have a cheat meal after each weigh in so your body doesn't get accustom to the low amount of calories. It makes sense and I for some reason it feels like I start losing more rapidly after I eat more one day then get back on the next.

Free Dinner Friday is the only way I can get my kids to eat fish, chicken, and veggies the rest of the week!

I've been trying a whole-foods approach - as much as possible directly from the ground. But even my favorites were getting rough. So I started sauteeing (that must be spelled wrong) everything with lots of different seasonings (Old Bay, greek, creole).

I agree with the bread idea - and bakery bread is much better than grocery store bread, with no preservatives! Great Harvest has a honey wheat with 100 cals per slice - 100% whole wheat (locally grown), honey, water, yeast, and salt - that's it! A little low-fat peanut butter toast is a great snack... and it sure beats celery!

My husband and I are doing the Jared thing. The sub sandwiches have really come a long way and you can get online and pull their nutritional value per sandwich chart. Just and suggestion if you want to "jig things up a little". Good luck to you.

Lol jared thing. My bf went to subway the other day in asked what I wanted. I told him to get me a sandwich jared would eat maybe a veggie sub or something. He brings me back a veggie sub and was excited and told me the whole thing was just 60 calories. Oh he meant well lol I knew he was wrong but he was convinced he was right. I finally figured out he saw the sign for the veggie salad no dressing or anything not a foot long sub but I will say that is the most delicious sandwich and I don't miss the meat or cheese and it is still very low in cals

okay..cheat meal..im listening!!!!! I dont understand the concept. If you eat more calories then you dont lose weight , right? I am on weight wathcers and it says you get an extra 35 points a week. BUt I dont use them because I am on a strict schedule of losing 2 pounds per weeek. Is that what the extra points are for?????:noway:

I believe that is what the extra points are for - not familiar with weight watchers totally. If you keep eating the same # of calories everyday, eventually your body will adjust to that just like if you only do the same exercise every day. You will burn less calories and your metabolism will no longer be as revved up. The concept is that if you have 1 meal a week or every couple of weeks that is a "cheat", things you wouldn't normally eat on a diet, then it tricks your metabolism into revving up because it had extra calories to burn. Bob specifically mentioned "mac & cheese" not in my diet, but for a cheat? Or whatever it is you like - a burger, chicken strips, lasagna, whatever - 1 meal. Helps shake things up too so you don't feel too deprived and 1 meal with extra calories isn't probably going to slow down your weight loss, unless it's like 4000 calories or something!! It should actually help keep it going at a good pace. HTH - Kim

Yea I was kinda on the same page as you...but the more I thought about it I probably should not use those extra points. For one I get exercise points everyday that I work out, however I am still having a problem including those too. Not to mention the point scale is calculated from fat, calories, and fiber so long story short I think the calories vary day to day. Maybe thats why weight watchers has been so successful for alot of people. Not sure if my judgements make any sense but I am going to avoid the extra points for now.:ohwell:

I have turkey breast on pumpernickle or whole wheat pita bread. Add some lettuce, tomato & mustard & your still under 200 calories (using the pita bread is a little more than 150).

As for the carb cravings... I bought an air popcorn popper. On Orville's nutrition lable it shows only 15 calories per cup (on the calorie counter on this site, it shows like 30), either way, that's alot of munchies for just a few calories.

As for getting sick of foods... I still like the fruit, but can't even look at broccoli anymore.

    Good luck!

if you can't live on salads and fruits forever why are you trying to lose weight that way. You have to have variety or you will inevitably get overweight again.

Ideal snacks contain a little carb and protein mix, like whole wheat crackers with light cheese or apples with peanut butter, string cheese and some nuts, nuts and grapes. Carbs are not the enemy.

INstead of salad at lunch have a 1/2 sandwich or some soup and then you can have veggies for a snack. I find that when I try to eat salad for lunches I really need a little protein that time of day so I started eatting turkey chili or a small sandwich and I stay full longer and I am happier!

mnbarnum is right......this is a lifestyle change and I for one can't live on just salads and fruit....those were the diets I would get off of and gain my weight back because I didn't learn how to eat proper. You shouldn't deprive yourself of other foods. Just start baking and buying baked snacks , I have a chicken chili that I made yesterday waiting for me for supper tonight, and then tomorrow I am going to make some cabbage soup with skinless , boneless chicken in it....There are many great recipes on here . Sometimes for lunch I take a slice of 100% multi grain bread , cut it in half , put a thin slice of turkey breast and pile the lettuce on and its good and filling and it takes awhile to chew so its not easy to scarf down fast like some foods. Make you a fruit salad, or sometimes I eat an apple with a tbsp of peanut butter. Hang in there, you can do it..
