Anyone drink Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein after a work-out?
Does it do any good? or is it one of those supplements that is a waste of money?

Replies

  • I absolutely use Whey Protein to supplement - I use IsaLean from Isagenix because it is made from organic ingredients and is a complete meal replacement not just a supplement - I think my recovery and weight loss has definitely been aided by supplementing with Whey Protein. I have not used the brand that you are speaking of...but a good quality Whey Protein is absolutely a good addition IMO.

Yes. Strawberry and cookies N cream.

It's good! I drink usually 2 a day to reach my 100+ g protein goal. Do it, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks. My boyfriend bought the chocolate kind months ago when he was wanting to get in shape, since it has been sitting around I figured I'll try it out since I've been working out; bad thing is it tastes horrible lol. I'll just have to deal with it until that's gone and get another kind.

i am starting to become VERY sceptical about whey proteins and some other supplements... as ive tried a few and i have tried without em n im still seeing same results so i just stopped buying protein all togather... only time i buy protein now is when im bulking and then i get weight gainer.. so i dont count the proteins i get from it just the calories as thats what i need... i just eat all my proteins and seeing alot better results and strenght gains... liter of homo milk, carton of eggs, 2-3 chicken breast, etc a day...

but its good to have protein right after a workout so if im out n bout n dont have time to eat it ill stop by bodysystems to grab a vanilla ice/protein smoothy they make there...

just my 2cents... n most big guys that i ask at the gym dont take protein powders,,,

I use that brand, and no whey protein is not a wasted supplement. Getting a dose of quality protein with in the first hour of working out is quite important. There is a lot of scientific research showing the benefits of doing this.

Yes, using it after your workout is more than fine. Just determine if you want/need 1 or 2 scoops. Looking at the nutrition label it's not bad at all, 4g C/2g F/26g P per serving. As for the taste, well if you think it is horrible tasting that's an issue. Based on my own experience and a few other friends, if it tastes bad you won't use it long. You can get Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard Whey for about the same cost and the flavors taste much better in my opinion.

Whey is a convenient and inexpensive way to supplement your protein intake. If you're having a hard time hitting your protein goals with food, then whey may be helpful. But it is by no means necessary.

i use to drink that, but with my trainer and friends who all lift they suggested Optimum Nutrition. i helps me get the extra protien during the day that i normally cant get and no its not a waste of $, but i do suggest getting something good. You get what you pay for

The research you're referring to is nearly always done on endurance athletes training to depletion after an overnight fast. Not really relevant to the average trainee.

ron's right... it is good to get protein within an hour of a workout... i try to do that.. but it doesnt make enough of a difference that ud notice right away so its not thaaat improtant... same thing as lets say ronnie coleman, arnold, jay cutler, all wake up on middle of the night once or twice to eat meals because ur body gets hungry n starts eating ur muscle on middle of the night.. to them its important because they weight like 260-270 n they need to hold on to every gram of muscle if they wanna get anywhere in their career but for anyone thats like you and me.. it doesnt make enough of a difference to go through the hassel..

Yes but your male. You've higher testosterone. Not the same thing when it applies to a girl. Protein isn't about bulk, it's about repairing torn muscles. It provides the body with the essentials needed to avoid DOMS. And for women, it's a necessity in health as this protein also applies to alot of healthy functions women need like hormone balance.

Protein is the building blocks of muscle, blood, cartilage, hair, skin, to name a few. Powders are just a convenience for those who cannot ingest 20 ounces of chicken a day, or 12 eggs and still feel good about themselves.

I can't completley argue with you kristine... i know what protein is for and i dont think ur getting good enough quality protein from a powder.. ur body simply absorbs it too quick n u piss it out... a chicken breast its fearly small ends up being 40gs of protein.. so if you ate a chicken breast, can of tuna, fillet of fish u would be well under ur calorie goal and way over ur proteins.. my wifey shes big into fitness too n shes in top shape right now and she also eats her proteins instead of powders and shes cutting so shes on low cals.. though on occasion she has a protein shake still..

i know the owner of the a supplement store here and i spoke to him n he is actuly the one that told me and my wife to stop waisting money on protein and if we still want it then have it just after a workout as ur body absorbs it quick.. thats what made me really think about it twice because if the guy owns the store ud think he would be upselling it to even his friends but instead he told his honest oppinion..

My fiance told me I should use protein powder so I did lol On the flip side I have seen great results using it as a meal replacement for breakfast. If you are on the go it is fantastic and easy and there are yummy ones out there.

I used it today, of course.
It actually kept me full two hours longer than what I normally am, so I believe I'll keep it in my daily intake. Thanks for all the input though.
